Admin Note: TL has banned the advertisement of paid coaching because it only benefits the coaches, much like other people who advertise their own products - it only works towards the advertisers benefit. TL makes them pay for sponsored threads to advertise, which is only fair. Following their example, we will adopt a similar approach and "paid coaching" advertisements will no longer be allowed. However, if you like to offer free coaching with no hidden costs that is still strongly encouraged as its benefits the community so that will be allowed and you can find out more by typing "free coaching" in the search box. Purely out of curiosity, how many people would be interested in coaching (receiving it) in the SEA area? With the success of gosucoaching over in america (From personally knowing and playing with them, they have a full plate of students all of which who continually come back and get a lot out of it), I'm thinking the SEA community might almost be big enough to warrant setting up some coaches for people really looking to improve there game a bit.
Basically just a discussion, would anyone out there be willing to pay to receive coaching? What would you be willing to pay (for reference, the gosucoaches charge about $25 USD an hour, i'd personally be willing to coach for $20 AUD or as low as $15AUD/hr for multiple hour deals)? What credentials would you want before you considered coaching as an option? Basically this topic is here for anyone and everyone to discuss whether or not coaching for sc2 would be at all successful inside of the SEA area.
I dont really think that ever was like published and official. Its just something we never really got around to really. Like for instance Ice is in the army =/ So yeah if we get a couple of people like Glade, Pinder im sure we can publish something proper. So yeah discussion, go.
Being somewhat of a noob, what would coaching entail? I'd be keen for some kind of coaching demo, like a VOD of an example training session.
basically 1 on 1, on vent/skype/teamspeak with the coach, and really whatever the student wants.
eg: for some student (gold and below for example) simply playing 1 game against the coach for 20 minutes and then watching the replay together discussing important 'leaks' in the students game that they need to fix, as well as introducing them to new ideas in the game they probably arent aware of yet.
I would almost guarantee i can take a gold or below level player two divisions higher (eg: bronze -> gold, gold -> diamond) within 4 one hour sessions, or 2 two hour
sessions.
for plat and above players, if they're looking for match-up specific advice (eg: maybe you're struggling with PvZ), basically analyzing some replays of the student discussing some of the core leaks in their play and what they can do to get edges against their opponent that they might be missing.

I don't think i'd pay for coaching, as I feel you can teach yourself very easily. Download top replays, observe first player perspective, take notes of their hotkeys and the way they use them (for instance every zerg user has their own style of using hotkeys to inject hatch).
I personally just study 1 build order, then go and practice for 10~20 games, then i study a new build order and repeat.

What I would want from coaching is feedback from a top-tier player while I do this. I can practice all I like, but chances are I'll probably miss some holes in my gameplay, or possibilities for improvement.
As important as figuring things out for yourself is, there's no point in reinventing the wheel. High-level coaching could be a very valuable resource for the community if it gets some momentum going.

yea there will always be a few players who can reach a high level by themselves like galaxy but the vast majority of us may hit a celling somewhere and not know why or will just take longer to learn so coaching is really beneficial and speeds up the learning process
