hi, Im a pretty casual masters terran on the ladder.
I have enjoyed this game since slightly after release and was very proud when I got into masters league.
However it has been 4 seasons since i got here and I feel like the improvement has halted :S
So my question is: for the more casual 5 games a day player, are there any ways to optimize my daily game play for improvement to continue? Or is low masters the highest I can reach with the casual playing time of 5 games a day.
I am actually part of starsoc which isn't really a clan but more of like a community of university gamers in sydney I guess I can start asking for some practice partners
mass gaming helps with mechanics mainly and ensuring that stuff like not getting supply blocked enters into muscle memory so you no longer thinking about anything other than do I see X and if so I need to make Y and Z changes to my build and when and where can / should I engage
You also have to spend time studying replays, figure out where you need to focus your efforts to improve and rinse repeat ad naseum
well im finding that my apm is kinda holding me back atm. Playing terran I find that the army takes alot of intense amp to control and on top of that macroing back home is really challenging for me in the late game. Is there anything I can do to try and increase my actions or perhaps make my actions more efficient?
there are multi tasking trainer maps on the arcade (maybe NA not SEA not really sure) but the apm needed to get high GM - at least on SEA or NA is not as high as you would think
I used to think my APM was holding me back until I developed a decent macro cycle and clear plans for the whole game and then I found my APM dropped but I was macroing and microing better
I play zerg though so its a little easier for me but I would possit it isn't your APM but something else
That said raising your multi tasking abilities via training is never a detriment
Yeah I am not really hung up on apm usually but Im just sick of getting demolished in 200/200 fights cos i didnt split well enough or get 30 marines fungaled :S
I'm having the same problem as you and I'm just Plat T_T
I can only make up theories since you're in Masters and I'm in Plat, but at your level if you want to get better, you will have to push yourself to willingly get better, not just grind-ladder a few games and just get better via experience. You will have to focus on specific things and push them one at a time. For example, if you have trouble splitting in large battles, pull out a unit tester and a friend that plays the race you have trouble playing with, simulate the units you have problem in, and micro.
Just my 2 cents.
