Okay, so here's where we proceed from here:
1) Everyone I've bolded on the list above has 48 hours to confirm their participation at ACL Melbourne. You can do it here, via Skype, or via e-mail (d.reball@aclpro.com.au). Even if we've spoken about it prior to now, I still need you to confirm in writing. Once you confirm participation, it's locked in. Withdrawals will be subject to penalty.
2) Due to Dippa, iaguz & deth competing at multiple regionals, the points are a bit top-heavy, which has opened up availability at the lower end of the top 16. We have a five-way-tie for the 16th slot. Each of these players must confirm/decline their interest in participating in the ACL Melbourne Championship playoffs. Those who express interest will then play off against eachother in Bo3 group stages until a clear victor emerged. These games will most likely be on THIS Tuesday night.
3) In the event that any of the top 15 participants decline their invitations, the aforementioned slots will obviously increase.
4) I mentioned a while ago that the top 8 would be able to select their groups. Since the points are a tad distorted, we'll be allowing the top 11 players to pick their own groups.
If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll keep an eye on this thread over the next 48 hours. I'll check my e-mail hourly. I'm not available on Skype between 8:00AM & 8:00PM weekdays, but I'm online, so you can leave me a message and I'll check when I get home.

when do top 11 pick there groups for acl? does anyone know how that will work?
And how are the people who are attending GESC, attending ACL on the same Saturday? can anyone help me get to ACL after GESC ? Thanks!
At this stage we're looking at Wednesday night. I needed confirmation from people before I could go ahead and schedule it - and right now my biggest priority is locking in the 16th slot.
I seem to recall Tony mentioning that Immunity were going to try and arrange a bus to take people to ACL after GESC or something. Ideally, I'd really like to see everyone besides GLaDe/Mafia make their way over to ACL as soon as possible so we can get started on the Group Stages. Some people might not have to play until Sunday morning, but with such a hectic weekend, some mutual flexibility is going to be necessary.
Ah. It means if we're horrifically behind schedule for some unexpected reason, we'll start at 9:15 on Sunday. Otherwise we'll kick off at 10:00AM as planned.
I promote we implement a new tiebreaker rule, Player with highest career points gets the spot But if this rule fails indeed i shall be playing tomoz night!
Round Robin competition I'm guessing?..
a Bo3 each?.. or just Bo1? - and if it is Bo3 does it just count as a win or does the map score come into play also?
I'm sure you'll have all these details soon.. but just curious.
Oh and to assist with transparency in future - I'll be converting my points spreadsheet to a google document so you guys can keep tabs on your progress any time you like, rather than getting updates at the end of each league.
We'll play it out the same way GSL does their groups.
but two get thru from GSL groups.. two games, then winner v winner/ loser v loser - would only need to play the Winner v Winner match to get the player going 2-0...? but then it comes down to the luck of the play your against 1st game... wouldn't a Round Robin > game then Map score to rank the top player...? with each set a Bo3?..
I've begun contacting the players who will be selecting their groups. It'll go down like this:
The bottom 4 (16, 15, 14, 13) have been placed in separate groups.
The top seed (1) will determine where the 12th person will go.
The last seed (11) will pick his own group.
10th, 9th and 8th will do the same.
We continue up the list until everyone (7-1) has been slotted.
Even though 16th hasn't been established yet, they have already been allocated a group. Be careful!

sorry just a bit confused..
Oops, I meant to write "ACL", not "GSL", haha. Awkward. Reading a thread about GSL whilst writing a post about ACL = bad.
Here's a hypothetical scenario:
HuT 1-2 kez
yang 2-1 EdgE
kez 1-2 yang
HuT 0-2 EdgE
HuT 2-1 yang
kez 2-1 EdgE
In the above example, both kez & yang are tied 2-1 on matches (and 5-4 on map score), but since yang beat kez 2-1, he's awarded the 16th slot.
I meant the tie between myself, ray, glade, mafia -- how do you determine who is first out of us four (thus, fourth seed) as wouldn't they get an advantage over the others?

I thought the way GSL does it, they have the top 4 seeds in 4 different groups, then each one picks a player to go inside their group - then the next person in that group who got picked does the same, and so on?
Wouldn't this way be harsh for like say the top 2 seeds ultimately not getting to choose their groups but end up with the last 2 remaining spots? (Assuming its 4 players in 4 groups by the end of it )

I was originally gonna go with that, but the whole 11/5 & Open Bracket dynamic makes it pretty clunky. The groups won't necessarily be 4 in each once everyone is finished picking - Group C for example already has 6 people!
i thought all the groups had two open slots for people qualifying from the open bracket - is this still the case, or is group c filled entirely with the people who were choosing their groups?

So we will find out about our groups with a few days to spare or the day before the event?? Also im gonna go out on a limb and say that everyone was eager to get into whatever group im in lol

I think the bigger incentive is to avoid all the scary names with the high seeds.
I hate to come in here and be the bad guy, but I'd just like to make fully known this about the tournament:
IF WE ARE BEHIND TIME, GAMES ON SATURDAY WILL GO UNTIL 10PM.
IF WE ARE BEHIND TIME STILL ON SATURDAY, GAMES WILL START BY 9.15am SUNDAY.
NO GAMES WILL CONTINUE PAST 9PM ON SUNDAY.
We will do all we can to make sure everything is ready for a smooth schedule and changeovers between matches. You need to do your part and stick to the rules of the tournament set in place for you. Enjoy the competition and take in the social atmosphere, but if you are late for a scheduled game you will face forfeits.
I think the bigger incentive is to avoid all the scary names with the high seeds.
you won't get a chance to avoid the scary names with the high seeds since the lower seeds that get to choose groups have to make their group selection first
also, hurrah @ putting a stopper on how much overtime there can be.

They can't choose your group if it's already full.

I've been telling everyone that we'll broadcasting the group selection on Wednesday night, but some people are seriously taking forever to pick their groups. Like 8+ hours for some people. So hopefully they hurry up soon...

I've reserved 1 slot in each group for the Open Bracket top 4 to pick from, the lower 4 are slotted in at random.

That's pretty much the logic everyone went for. They wanted to stay away from the highest seeds, so they crammed themselves into the "low-seed" group, which includes some team kills.
Group A: EdgE, tgun, mOOnGLaDe Group B: Pox, Light, Mafia, Dippa Group C: BiGbiRd, Rossi, TargA, YoonYJ, Techtron Group D: Ninja, PiG, iaguz, deth
Groups with less than 6 players will be filled by Open Bracket Participants. 1 slot has been reserved in each group for 4 Open Bracket players to pick their groups. The rest will be allocated at random.
One last reminder that unless your name is mOOnGLaDe or Mafia, you should be making your way over to ACL on Saturday afternoon in order to play your group matches! As soon as the open bracket starts to empty out, we'll be seating people for their matches, so once you've finished with GESC please make your way over. I'll be in touch with the Nv guys throughout the day to update them on the progress of the open bracket, so you guys will know when you're needed at ACL.
How many people going? What time approx do you need pick up? There are specials and such and with that information can call for a quote and organize something here. I was under the impression GESC were organizing a bus but guess not, oh well.
We were initially going to organize transport for the players that are stuck in GESC finishing up their matches as the ACL starts Group play, therefore ACL won't be delayed and we can finish up here.

Dox stated here that having a few guys in GESC that are still finishing up could play their ACL groups from our venue. In return for the favor we will transport the players to ACL once they are done with GESC.
Unfortunately due to Dox now saying that players have to be at the ACL venue to play the ACL group games, regardless of where they are in the GESC tournament we will not be offering the transport service.
Sorry if it stuffs up some of your plans, but plenty of guys will be going from GESC to ACL so I'm sure you can all organize sharing a ride / cab or something
Players who are still playing in the GESC Event the same time as the ACL group stage kicks off won't play their games (For ACL) until after they are finished in GESC and make their way over to ACL?
At this stage no transport has been arranged based off discussions in a previous thread both myself and Dox posted in. Having said that, for players remaining until the conclusion of GESC I'll see what I can come up with.
In relation to players needing to attend on Saturday night, I specifically asked this:

So does that mean you don't run a fixed Pro-Bracket on the Saturday night? For example if player X, Y and Z are AFK they can still be playing on the Sunday morning?

As for the questions about group stages being postponed to Sunday, we have absolutely no reason to do this. There will be more than enough players at ACL who aren't participating in GESC to get games running after the open bracket starts to dwindle. Just like Gold Coast and Sydney - no changes whatsoever.
SundeR PM'd me a good question, so I'll post the answer up in here. For those of you who missed the schedule I posted earlier in the thread, this is the objective for Saturday morning:
10:00AM - I want to have most of the Open Bracket Registrations sorted
10:30AM - Last chance for Registration
10:40AM - Brackets published
10:45AM - Players seated
11:00AM - First broadcasted match will be live on stream, the rest should also be underway.
