I've been reading around the sc2sea threads lately and noticed a lot of poor people trying to extort things from this almost family like community of over a thousand members. And I kinda wanted to say a few things towards new people to the forums and new people to this website about not rules or regulations but common sense.
This community is something to show great awe too, I know of the huge Xbox and ps3 community's on such sites as the cg gaming site who go out of their way to get people cheap equipment and sponsorships but they don't hold anything to this site.
People on this site are some of the nicest Internet folk you will ever meet, some may know tones of people in real life or not, but I can tell you that you will make new friends that you may never meet here and that is something to cherish.
But people who come here to extort good folk like for example Nirvana, who made this site work out of his own pocket and time and only recently managed to put and end to that after a long, long time which in comparison to some people who would have straight away put ads to make many a dollar. The site only makes money from the store and even then some of that money goes back into the sites maintenance fees. There are heaps of other sites out there with no community aspect at all that sell SC2 Guides, keys, etc and make more money and Nirvana could very well be spending all his time improving those areas and to get a bigger market share there but he doesn't.
Instead he chooses to spend his time to ensure the site goes far beyond what normal sites provide as a community site, he constantly is improving it, did up a house clan feature just so clans had more exposure and it would be easy for people to join them. Giving out achievements to encourage good posters, purchasing or obtaining new features like streams / chatboxes / replays and even a name change thread which already has 200+ name changes all of which weren't necessary and he very well didn't have to spend time/money to do all of that. Instead he and the rest of the admins continue to spend their time and effort giving us tournaments which they get absolutely nothing for in return only for people to put up a stink over a few minor details.
And not just that but people even giving up money in hard economic times where money is having to be stretched to make ends meet. For example The All Mighty Flamga who gave a certain someone $100 a lot in these difficult times to fly a friend to a LAN in a place miles away because he needed the help.
These generous acts of kindness shown by more then just these two are extraordinary, but even more is that some people cant even begin to comprehend these acts on others sites.
So I have a warning to people of the Internet, the people who's lives may be having troubles, speed bumps as some might say, do not come to this site and try to extort goods, pray on the people who give important time out of their days to help others or just some of the kindest folk around, if you need help, trust me people here can help.
So do not come here to troll, have fun at other peoples expense or even to take out your troubles. Please go somewhere else and frankly if you are trying to do something of this kind maybe, just maybe the people of the Internet might be better of without you.
Sincerely
James aka Kringe
PS: Thank You to Nirvana for all his help with some facts.
