I started this thread out of pure inspiration when I watch a bunch of speed gamers on justin.tv streaming marathons speedrun sessions of console games to raise money for charity last night. The stream is http://www.justin.tv/speeddemosarchivesda
Just for everyone's information they raised more than $120,000 USD for the cancer charity that they adopted. 120K!!!!
I feel what they did was a excellent way to show the community that as gamers we can contribute to society as well.
At sc2sea.com since we do organise so many tournaments and showmatches, why don't we try organising a fun series of showmatches for charities as well?
I was thinking maybe just regular showmatches might not generate too much attention? So how about we impose some rules for our showmatch players to adhere to to make these showmatches more fun to watch?
For example:
Team 2v2, 3v3 monobattles: where each player can only choose 1 unit to make.
Example: Pure Mothership Collosi Sentries vs Mothership Queens Ultras
Unit restrictions, for example:
Zerg players cannot make any tier 1 and 2 attacking units: Zerglings, roaches, mutas, hydras are banned.
Terran players cannot make Marines, Marauders, Hellions, Thors.
Well you guys can get the general idea.
Like is there anyone our there who might be interested to see:
Moonglade using only spines, spores and queens to defend and transition into infestors, queens, ultras
VS
Iaguz who is using Ghosts, Ravens, vikings medivacs?
I know we can possibly see the funkiest, viable builds ever since tgun played sc2 lol
And all the donations we gather from the showmatches can go to a charity suggested by our admins, it can be a local or international charity. So it will be an event that is both fun for players and viewers. As well as doing good for the society and generate publicity for our SEA community.
Even the smallest donations help keep sc2sea running! All donations go towards helping our site run including our monthly server hosting fees and sc2sea sponsored community tournaments we host. Find out more here.
