So with the huge Steam summer sale that's going on right now, one of my friends recommended I download a game called "Braid." It's only like $3.00 or something on Steam right now, so I figured what the hell. I watched the trailers and looked at the screenshots, and I was like, "Wow, seriously? This looks very ordinary."
This game is the most sophisticated, clever game I've ever seen. It's essentially a platforming puzzle game. You can't die, and you can reverse time as much as you like. So if you fall in a pit of spikes or something, just reverse time. Simple. Every single puzzle brings something new to the table. New concepts that no other game has explored before, and each time you complete one of the puzzles, you think, "How the hell did someone come up with that?" You actually feel like a giant freaking genius every time you beat a level and collect all the puzzle pieces.
You'll find yourself clearing the first level and wondering how you could possibly get some of the puzzle pieces. You'll ignore them for now, assuming you'll get some new ability later on. But no. All you have is jump and rewind. That's all of the abilities you need. But you can use them in an infinite number of ways.
Because the concepts in this game are so unique, there's not much I can do to entice you. I could try and describe the intricacies of some of the puzzles, but it just wouldn't make sense without the experience. All I can say is that this game is worth looking at. Your brain will thank you. And by the time you reach the third level, you'll be thanking me.
Do not make the mistake of overlooking this game because of how simple it looks at a glance. This game is the "Portal" of platforming.
