If you have been following our Facebook page recently, you may have noticed that one of Tt.GIGA’s recent pickups has been Hamish “Kowi” Parker, one of the strongest players of Starcraft 2 in New Zealand at the moment. An ex-Warcraft 3 player who used the Night Elf race, he represented New Zealand in the World Cyber Games (WCG) from 2006-2008 and WCG Asia for 2006-2007, and actually received a silver medal at WCG Asia 2007. Kowi’s career saw impressive wins against players such as LongWalk, ToD and Sonic and although he was originally sponsored by BenQ, after his performance at the NGL he was picked up by Razer. He played WC3L and NGL and he hit #17 in the world rankings for Warcraft 3.
His best moment in the NGL was when he performed an all kill against Team GO (as he claims himself, his “famed allkill”). He was invited to the Blizzcon Boston qualifers in 2009.
Sorry ladies, Kowi isn’t single :’(
After transferring from Warcraft 3 to Starcraft 2 (by using Protoss), Kowi has come 4th in the Western Digital PSI Storm 2010 tournament, 3rd in the Pan Pacific Championship, and 2nd in the SCA Open. He has won the #4 KOTH Australasia Tournament, but unfortunately that is now discontinued. He has continued in Team Challenges, playing for Clan Kiwi in the LaG-League. He was invited to the Blizzard SEA Invitational, where he unfortunately lost to Azz in the first round.
Kowi at WCG 2007
At one stage, Kowi was ranked #1 in the Grandmaster League on the NA server in December 2010, showing that latency did not affect his excellent micro control. Indeed, Kowi is known for his excellent micro control of his stalkers, especially when massing Blink stalkers.
Where to now for Kowi? As he wades through the masses of Zerg, the soldiers of Terran and the warriors of Protoss, his goal is set. To become the greatest Australasia player Starcraft 2 has ever seen, by representing his country and organisation at all major events world-wide.
