What I should be doing right now is sleeping. But Im accepting the fact that I wont be able to for a while after what I just saw. That has got to be one of the most exciting team league matches in SC2 history. For those who don't want to have it spoiled, do not read on.
Here is why it was so darn exciting:
SlayerS_Alicia starts for SlayerS clan, and Im sure most had low expectations for SlayerS coming in to this match. Alicia wins the first game. Then the second game, vs Losira. Then the third, notably eliminating IMNestea via a 4gate vs a triple hatch which was attempting to blind counter.
WHAT THE HELL.
Already, the unexpected has occurred. What everyone has thought to happen was just reversed on itself, and crushes any doubts about SlayerS clan coming in to this match. Artosis makes the comment of how the IM coach said they would go 5-0. They could indeed be correct.
The next matchup, however, PvP. SlayerS_Alicia vs IMYongHwa. YongHwa rolls over Alicia after Alicia blinks up his ramp, causing majority of his stalkers to die.
Okay, so it wont be 5-0. It looks like IM might just come back and own SlayerS. Oh well.
YongHwa vs Golden was next. YongHwa completes another victory in which he demolishes his opponent, after getting 2base up and using infinity gateway units.
Oh well, here we go. Too bad for SlayerS, I guess.
SlayerS pick Ryung. OKAY, here we REALLY go now.
Ryung beats YongHwa in a fairly convincing display, after some very back and forth action in a TvP. His ciking count killed all of the collossus, his marine marauder count killing everything left on the ground. The phoenix were forced to watch from above as their master was killed off.
Woah, the momentum just turned AGAIN? Seriously, at this point, I had no idea who was going to win it. It had kept changing so much, and SlayerS clan was up at 4-2. But I remembered why IM was were they were.
IM choose MVP.
Yep. SlayerS are pretty much screwed...
Ryung has good TvT, which showed in his game against MVP. He had a superior tank count, whereas MVP had a huge viking count. Which was odd, because it just kept growing... Then the battlecruisers came out. Ouch...
Yeah, ok, MVP will probably own SlayerS...
SlayerS choose Ganzi. Which is kinda odd, until Artosis points out they are forcing MVP to play TvTs so that they get as much information about MVP's TvT for MMA, in the last game.
Then theres a problem. Ganzi says "pp" (please pause) then leaves the game shortly after. Obviously just leaving the game, even if there is an issue, was not the correct thing to do. Regardless, they restart the game (The game was only towards the beginning anyway).
Although, this time, MVP doesnt open the same way he had before the restart. Instead, he goes for a 5rax, and kills pretty much everything from Ganzi. Ganzi manages to get tanks up and siege tech, but then MVP stomps him as he sets up shop at MVP's base. Ouch, yet again. It really started to look like IM had it, as MVP brought it back to 4-4.
Down to the final game, MVP vs MMA. This was the most crazy TvT I've seen in a fair while. It involved MMA going marinekingprime style, losing out in many engagements early on, although it didnt matter much as he had a gold expansion up. Yeah.
When MVP finds it, MMA takes it back to his third and mines there for a fair while while MVP is still on 2base. Eventually MMA is forced to pull it back, but he floats it to the other side of the map and takes that gold instead. He holds that for almost the entire game, and has an insane income as a result.
Eventually, MMA manages to dwindle MVP's army down and forces MVP to run back and forth with his tanks, sieging when he gets to the spots in order to kill off the 3/3 marines. Eventually, MMA takes advantage of this, runs up to the tanks and kills them all. GG.
At this point, I was going insane too. The finals were so back and forth and eventually resulted in the underdogs winning. A seriously good event to stay up late to watch (Although for some gamers 12ish AM is early...). Just wow. Im sure this brings BoxeR a lot more credibility back to his name, after failing to show results in his inidividual starcraft 2 career so far, GSL-wise.
