LennX Laboratory Learnings - Banshee in a Terran vs Zerg engagement
Lab report 02-2559/991-001-BFG
From my experience, Banshee, are seldomly seen against Zerg. Banshees are a surgical strike tool and this doesn’t bode well against an opponent who swarms you and attempts to have an attribution war.
As a fast tech option, banshees are good for harassment. Killing off drones or even having them pulled from mining will give you a slight economy lead. This will also delay any attacks timed or otherwise that the swarm can do against you as larvae are used for replenishment of drone count instead of army count.
If the swarm decides to get more queens, be happy. The minerals used in getting extra queens instead of a macro hatchery will be wasted. You are asking me to do harassment, not kamikaze-ing into queens right?
Ahh... Hydras. A Tier 2 possibility. When rushed as a respond against banshee, keep in mind of the fingers that I have on my right hand. Yes that is how range they have. Five. Unupgraded. May I remind you that a banshee have a range of 6? With proper micro management, we banshee pilots are the counter to hydras. Dancing like a butterfly and stinging like a bee also known as kiting for the masses.
Standard terran opening, 2 rax pressure into hellions pressure. Blue flame not required. This will force roaches. The more roaches the better, as you transit into Banshees. Since roaches are out, the swarm should have their tech delayed. This will lead you to a nice timing window when your Banshees can do an obscene amount of damage. What if the enemy don’t go roaches to counter your hellions? Have fun roasting drones. I heard BBQing is a good team bonding session among marines.
Mid game?
Harassment tool when zerg has map control.
