Accommodation Information

For those looking for accommodation check out this link (TY yongming) from tripadvisor.

The hotels around the Expo (where Sitex is held, Sitex is the name of the exhibition) are all expensive and there is nothing to do there. Its a convention area near the airport. So we recommend staying in the Lavender / Bugis area which is on the outskirts of the city and more towards the East of Singapore. It is lively area which has tons of stuff going on and its very popular with backpackers and student travellers. By public transport (MRT) Its about a 20min travel from your hotel to the expo and from there its a 5 mins ride into the city.

Bugis+ (Iluma)


Updated with a brand new look, Bugis+ is one of the "newest" malls in Singapore and a haven for young adults! They have the latest shops and eateries popular with young adults and many entertainment facilities from Karaokes to Beer / Dart Rooms. Try the "Milk Tea" from Koi or Gongcha while you're there.

Bugis Street Market


Bugis Street is the biggest street market in Singapore which has a wide variety of apparels, accessories, watches, etc. Get your fix of street fashion, unique accessories and cheap souvenirs. Adventurous souls can try the Singapore "Durian" at the front of bugis market. You will either love it or hate it there is no inbetween. And while you're there, just continue walking up and you will come to...

Sim Lim Square


An "IT Shopping Mall" with all the latest and cheapest gadgets. There will also be tons of people who will rip you off especially if they see that you're white (lol) so price check!

Things to do outside of Bugis

If you don't mind spending money you can go the usual "tourist route" which is Zoo/Night Safari > Sentosa / UWS > MBS / Casino. Avoid Singapore flyer thats a tourist trap.



For those who don't wish to spend much, the next two best are Marina Bay Sky Park(pictured) $20 and the new attraction Gardens by the bay $20 (domes).

Things to eat near Bugis



There are tons of good food in bugis. I like the fried fish noodle soup along tan kwee lan street. You should 100% try a steamboat(pictured) while you're there. 15 AUD for an all you can eat steamboat buffet and the Bugis ones are the most popular in Singapore. While you're at bugis junction which is the older mall next to Bugis+, look out for Old Chang Kee its a street snack store very popular with locals. Try the curry puff, fried chicken wing or fried sotongs.

Some Must Try Food



A list of some popular food. Most visitors end up liking chicken rice(pictured) the most! I also recommend spending at least one dinner at Makansutra so you can try Singapore seafood and from there you can see the Singapore River or go for drinks easily at either one fullerton or clark quay.
