I've been reading around the sc2sea threads lately and noticed a lot of poor people trying to extort things from this almost family like community of over a thousand members. And I kinda wanted to say a few things towards new people to the forums and new people to this website about not rules or regulations but common sense.
This community is something to show great awe too, I know of the huge Xbox and ps3 community's on such sites as the cg gaming site who go out of their way to get people cheap equipment and sponsorships but they don't hold anything to this site.
People on this site are some of the nicest Internet folk you will ever meet, some may know tones of people in real life or not, but I can tell you that you will make new friends that you may never meet here and that is something to cherish.
But people who come here to extort good folk like for example Nirvana, who made this site work out of his own pocket and time and only recently managed to put and end to that after a long, long time which in comparison to some people who would have straight away put ads to make many a dollar. The site only makes money from the store and even then some of that money goes back into the sites maintenance fees. There are heaps of other sites out there with no community aspect at all that sell SC2 Guides, keys, etc and make more money and Nirvana could very well be spending all his time improving those areas and to get a bigger market share there but he doesn't.
Instead he chooses to spend his time to ensure the site goes far beyond what normal sites provide as a community site, he constantly is improving it, did up a house clan feature just so clans had more exposure and it would be easy for people to join them. Giving out achievements to encourage good posters, purchasing or obtaining new features like streams / chatboxes / replays and even a name change thread which already has 200+ name changes all of which weren't necessary and he very well didn't have to spend time/money to do all of that. Instead he and the rest of the admins continue to spend their time and effort giving us tournaments which they get absolutely nothing for in return only for people to put up a stink over a few minor details.
And not just that but people even giving up money in hard economic times where money is having to be stretched to make ends meet. For example The All Mighty Flamga who gave a certain someone $100 a lot in these difficult times to fly a friend to a LAN in a place miles away because he needed the help.
These generous acts of kindness shown by more then just these two are extraordinary, but even more is that some people cant even begin to comprehend these acts on others sites.
So I have a warning to people of the Internet, the people who's lives may be having troubles, speed bumps as some might say, do not come to this site and try to extort goods, pray on the people who give important time out of their days to help others or just some of the kindest folk around, if you need help, trust me people here can help.
So do not come here to troll, have fun at other peoples expense or even to take out your troubles. Please go somewhere else and frankly if you are trying to do something of this kind maybe, just maybe the people of the Internet might be better of without you.
Sincerely
James aka Kringe
PS: Thank You to Nirvana for all his help with some facts.

I agree with everything you said, but did I miss the part where these threads were actually in existence? Cause I had a quick look and couldn't find any. Maybe they got removed or something.

First extort may be the wrong word maybe trying to get goods through the cost of things the community does not need
A good example of this is the app thread a while back where a person came with an idea to create an app for this site
From this someone made 2 apps for twitter and fb and then posted he would give these to us but he wanted d3 beta and Dota 2 invite
Hopefully this clarifies things a little
Also about more in no way is this flaming on Flamga or anybody else who are helping stallion a big part of this community get a plane ticket to see his friends once more
This is really the essence of the community coming together to help give a lending hand

Ahh ok, I was not aware of this. Fair enough!

I think i speak on behalf of all volunteers when i say its heart warming to see appreciation threads like this because we usually just get the hate(from the minority but its deafening). The people happy don't express themselves as often and as a volunteer it is YOU who we do all this for, NOT the haters! Its a nice feeling to know we have helped provide a better experience and its nice to know our efforts weren't for naught and made a difference. Hayders are always gonna find a reason to hayde no matter what we do.
Also love the vibe we have in most parts of the community, the stallion thread was an awesome demonstration of what a close-knit community we have, and I hope the community continues to steer in that direction, its a wonderful thing to have here and we must protect it .
This is why I love this community so much because what we are is a "Community" but even closer then that, because as Kringe () has said we are essentially like a family.
We help each other out and dedicate time to helping others for those who ask for it. To be honest I wouldnt want to be part of any other community other then this one because its truly the definition of what community is and I have to say I am very priviledged to be called a member of Sc2sea and I will like everyone in Sc2sea not just the admins, give my best back to the community.
I haven't done community sponsorship or free gear like this for any other communities really.
I don't sposnor any other fun events (like plunder) any other monthly events (like masters cup) any other big comps run by other orgs (ACL PRO) any pro player reviews (GM Pro player review) or anywhere near as many players (When I had PiG, SQL and MEKA.Tt Kowi).
Agree with Mayo, easily find myself supporting this community the most both through the events our company organizes and through suggestions / advice when approached by other companies, easily the most mannered, respectful and friendly online community around!
Big hats off to Nirvana who manages to keep the trolls mostly at bay*
*Aside for the little trolling he does from time to time
