I tuned in for a little bit last Friday and i saw ninja playing some micro map with the rest watching, which not only seemed like a bit of a waste of time for the players but also a waste for the viewers too, i mean, just mentioning the map in passing would be enough as opposed to watching a guy micro a fight (which in this certain scenario was a pretty unrealistic fight, we then watched him run a super-fast roach around dodging banelings.. wat?)

My 2c on what the friday night shows should be is just 1 matchup focus between 2 players and whoever else wants to be there, like, have say yang and ninja next friday night solely playing a few pvz's, and then discussing, in depth, the flaws and strengths of their play, the ways in which the map shaped their strategy (or didn't and perhaps a mistake to play a certain way on a certain map) etc.

benefits:
  • I feel like that would be actually beneficial to the players
  • really good educational value for viewers (instant analysis from 2 high level players)
  • viewers know instantly what theyre going to get (analysis and games of XvsY matchup, so they know if they want to tune in or not straight away)
  • Simple entertainment of watching games while the 2 play the said matches with infeza commentating
cons:
  • Might result in less viewers as 1/3rd of people (and, if you decide to do mirror matchups, 2/3rds) won't be interested in matchup analysis that doesn't involve their own race
  • May get stale after doing the exact same format week in week out

Yeah, thanks for the feedback Pinder! Still trying to find out our roots and we are going to do something more like this. Just 1v1 With pure discussion about the matchup, playing multiple games, with ideas to improve the build etc.

The problem i have is the audience skill level, as players like you would want to watch to learn really high level in depth stuff, where as some players for the lower leagues will not really understand or it won't really effect their play.

We'll just continue working on it then and see which ways is the most engaging for the audience.

I watched the VOD for the SC2 show the day after and it wasn't too bad. My only improvement would be to cut it down time wise. Maybe the content wasn't too engaging so it felt like anything over an hour dragged on. But I really liked the background and the sound quality. Awesome work! It is tough to keep everyone happy!

Pretty sure mine was like $30 or something. It's the Razer Banshee mic. I hear people saying that it's awful all the time! Seems to be lasting okay for me... so far.

RE Thurs eSports Show

Agree with Erasmus, it is pretty broad, not everyone has interest in numerous games and genres, just like his sport analogy. Thus viewer count will always be up and down depending on support for the actual game of the week. I understand this would be hard for sponsors to understand/accept.

However i personally do like the idea of an eSports news show. Just keep the news brief, and perhaps more than just a voice recap. Pictures, video, profiles maybe. Would be more work for you guys though, which you probably don't have time for. Or perhaps run the news at the end?

I think yourself and Triumph work well together and everything's good stream wise, setup/audio, etc.

Also having 'expert' guests is awesome, and definitely helps out.

Perhaps make the show more funny at times, rather than just news and topic of the week? People may tend to switch off it it's just Q&A. I liked in ep1 where you were showing the BF3 map in the train station, where the player just camped in the one spot and racked in the kills, and you discussed how some maps were strange, etc. And in Ep2 you showed videos of Idra prematurely GGing out of games. That type of stuff is good for casual viewers.

You had unbelievable numbers for the PiG v Bielsko show match! Not realistic to expect similar for all events, but was there something different you did for that event?

Guess a key to increasing viewers is networking. Using social media, like facebook/twitter. Perhaps see if you can get listed on main page of twitchtv (Not sure if easy to do, but given the theme of your show they might be interested.)

It is a bit hard given the diversity of your show week to week, but i hope you can stick with it a bit longer and see how it settles. Shall continue to try and watch, give my support, even if non sc2 related content.

RE Friday SQL.SC2 Practice session

Can't be to critical given it was your first week. (Were up against MLG if i remember correctly?) But micro map probably lost a lot of viewers/not that entertaining/educational.

I would suggest a format consisting of 2 players showing off builds, timings, metagame, how to react to certain things, etc, applicable to all levels of play. Either have 1 special guest from each race commentating the games, or they play, your players discuss, can get the players on after to discuss, etc.

That would show off your players a bit, and offer viewers a chance to learn/improve their own games.

RE Mon underdog challenge

These are awesome! Great initiative. Perhaps avoid mirror matches if possible, as a lot of viewers find them to be less interesting.

PiG v Bielsko was front paged for around 20 minutes

The twitch staff have been somewhat AFK since then...

Thanks for the advice!
