Australian SimCity is now live from Origin, I hope that there isn't going to be many problems like what the Americans are experiencing at the moment. I've been watching these http://new.livestream.com/accounts/2...events/1902153. It's the Let's All Be Mayor event that Maxis did a week before the game was released it's really informative and also really damn hilarious BUT each video is 4 hours long...
This game seems extremely complex, will be awesome to learn something before HotS comes out. My Origin tag is Poruchiik feel free to add me!
All these complaints about small city size.. the concept is you manage an entire region your self with each cities (up to 17 is the max for a region?) being a specialist city..
I get that it's fun to complain but come on the system works pretty good..
So buggy... origin says I have played it for 3 hours, of which 99.9% was spent hoping that I could connect and 0.1% was in the tutorial before it disconnected me

I'll raise you with mine saying 20+ hours for playing the intro level and 15 minutes after that before work and me leaving the client all day hoping it wouldn't log me out (which it did, and I couldn't get back on all night )
So after playing close to about 10 cities... There are quite a few things that are just hard to understand.
Population : Workers : Available Jobs
I've gotten my population to 150,000 before, but the workers are well below 30,000. And the amount of jobs available is crazy high.
The numbers never match up. I'd like to see if anyone is able to get the number of unfilled jobs to 0.
I eventually dezone most of my city and reduced the population to 80k, but not much of a difference.
Traffic
Sims are just stupid, they need to be smarter about traffic routes. Streetcars > buses. Seriously, buses are a scam.
And congestion is so bad, that getting above 100k population is a little bit tricky to manage. Intersections causes jams, and you'd think more roads lead to better traffic, but it's quite the opposite because of said intersections.
Income
My most successful city by far, was raking in 9k/hr. With a population of over 120k. Congestion was terrible. Crime was high and fires were raging all over (due to congestion not allowing police and firemen to reach their destinations).
Fast forward to all my coal/ore/recycling plants working at full capacity, and deciding to save 1.5m while afk. I decided to dezone everything and selectively bulldoze many unhappy buildings. This improved traffic tremendously (less people), crime was reduced to almost nothing and fires as well...
Result? About -13k to -15k/hr income, with Trading keeping me in the black (barely).
Water
You WILL run out of water. Rain is suppose to replenish the water supply in the area, but I hardly see it rain, and even if it does, it's probably only 3 seconds of rain in cheetah speed.
Solution: Have your Sewage Treatment Plant next to your Water Pump running with Filtered Pumps. Infinite poop water for your city. Newater for the win.
Finally, let's not forget the overstressed servers that take forever to send your money/ambulances/fire trucks and what have you to your friend's region.
Buses are not a scam. There are threads on reddit about people getting 99% public transport usage with a lot of bus stops. The guy who wrote the code has given feedback as well. You can also achieve much higher income than that, although I haven't yet.
Q: Is there an alternative way to get fast cash besides a loan?
A: Yes. Raise your taxes to 20% for two ticks, then lower them back to 9 or whatever you previously had. This will give you almost the same amount of money as a bond, for free! We find ourselves doing this every now and again with absolutely no detriment to our citizens. Not one abandonment or mention of these secret tax hikes anywhere.
