[ITHelp] Monitor recommendations

I know there is a thread about this last year may, but I was hoping for a more recent update on good gaming monitors and didn't want to post on a old thread (from what i have been warned anyway).

So, I'm looking for a good gaming monitor. Good being fitting what I am looking for as closely as possible with the best value as I'm looking to purchase 3 of them.

What I'm looking for:
-22-24 inch (Mostly inclined towards 22-23)
-Backlit
-1980x1080 16:9
-60Hz
-Response time of at most 5ms
-No more than 250SGD
-Display only, no need for audio, usb etc
-Standard unmovable stand with no tilt or height adjustment is fine
-I intend to have the main gaming monitor to have a HDMI input, the other two can be VGA

Are there any other things I should be looking out for in a monitor?

Really lost with finding a good one, went through over 30 plus monitors and still seem to pick the right one. Help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I suggest over 100hz and 2ms response time seeing its easily available now and at a resonable price. I've had heaps of monitors but I still cant go past the vibrance and image quality of the samsungs. My 2c

If you are using Nividia graphic card, i suggest lower response time for performance. If its Radeon graphic card, go for Dell monitors which gives you much sharper display.

However, honestly, you wouldn't see much of a difference on monitors today. Since you are planning on getting 3, i supposed you plan to join them together into and extend your screen. Thus, i recommend benq or dell monitors as they are of "better quality" and most importantly have thinner side edges which will give a nicer joint of images on your chain of 3 monitors.

I'm sure our friends from iM would agree.. BenQ are the way to go - Not only are their monitors quality, but most of all they support eSports and Australian eSports.. put your dollars in a place that will see them come back to the scene.

idk the Models, perhaps someone from iM can elighten us.. but BenQ all the way.

Would just like to add, all those response time crap is fake advertisement. Most monitors have around 10+ grey to grey response time. Stuff to look at for are contrast, viewing angles(ips, tn, mva, pls panels), uniformity, luminance and colour reproduction.

I've only so far looked through 3 brands. They are Asus, Samsung and of course BenQ.

From BenQ Singapore, one recommended by iM Light seem quit expensive and I would love to support them for Esports but im on quite a tight budget.

24 inches seem also pretty large for me, so for people who use and are familiar with BenQ, is this good?

I dont plan to actually join all 3 together, just the extra 2 for more desktop space for me to be able to multitask and monitor things with much greater ease rather than constantly alt+ tabbing to see things.

I do use a ATI card so will be checking out Dell monitors.

Also it would help out alot if the price could also be put here.

Thanks for everyone's help! If you have anymore recommendations do post it here!

I will be posting a small review on whatever monitor i buy so will also keep you all updated

ive got a samsung monitor, very happy with it. samsung is a great company.

mine is the 23inch syncmaster BX2331.

2ms delay and 60hz (i see some people suggesting 100hz but for sc2 and most games 60 is plenty)

from what i understand, most of the panels are made by only a few OEMs anyway, so imo brand names are not at all important in choosing a monitor. Just look at the specs and the warranty and whatever is cheapest.

Some random side things Ive noticed with multi monitor displays. Firstly wow my graphics card cant do as much as it use too. Well it can its awesome but it has to keep the desktop on the side monitors up well it runs my program so its always working over time. Desk space, if your going for a 3 monitor setup you are likely going to need a very decent sized desk or wall brackets for true awesome action. The most important thing about a monitor is resolution assuming your eyesight is good to reasonable. Resolution gives you visual information, size gives you size. My 42 TV gives me less visual information than my 17inch laptop due to this. Its nice to sit back and play on a big screen but when it comes to gaming in all reality size doesnt matter unless your having trouble making out things because they are too small. Resolution is the key (I play better starcraft on my smaller screen because I can see more). Finally there are pros and cons to having different resolution monitors both revolve around the edges that dont line up which cause places for your mouse to get caught. I find it very useful as I have that edge where my task bar is located. Id say more but break time is over.

idk what you are trying to say here. eyes dont see in hz or framerates anyway... its based on perception and if you go down to the shop and compare a 60Hz screen to a 120Hz screen most will be able to distinguish the difference.

I have two of these http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-IPS235V-led-monitor
They are only $160 at MSY. http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9878

They are pretty good from what I can tell. I've only had them a few months though..

I have two GL2450HM screens (a 2420 sitting in a box from before the upgrade) in a dual display setup with a GTX 680. Screens were less than AU$200 each when I got them.

Can't fault them really and I use them for design/development work as well as gaming.

Pics of them setup found here: http://www.sc2sea.com/showpost.php?p...&postcount=114

Thanks for all the recommendations again guys, I have complied a list of all the monitors that seems to fit the requirements that i want. Bering in mind im getting 3 screens with the intention of having the main screen having a HDMI input and the rest to be VGA to save costs. Off the top of your head if you can help me eliminate or add screens i should check out in the list, that would be fantastic, no need to do extensive research, unless you plan on doing a gaming monitor guide.
