I am abit surprised that there hasn't been more coverage or better organisation of the competition.
Likely its been advertised for some time but there really isnt much info and we are 2 days out from when it starts.
I have so many unanswered questions, like:
1. Who are the international players?
2. Where are the brackets (who is playing who)?
3. how long will it go for? (i doubt it will finish all in one day). There are 64 qualifiers + 8 inter. with BO3 and BO5s. I think it will span for 2 days but i could be wrong.
I really wish they did some commentating of the games, live stream it or something. i just feel as though the word hasn't go out.
Wow i'm looking even more forward to this tournament. cant wait to be knocked out by a international, its going to be so much fun. i hope all the top sea get knocked out by an international so that 1st, 2nd and 3rd are all from overseas. will make it extra special.

Wow a real pro-gamer, this is huge. I think I'd rather be watching than playing now.
Its a real a shame some of the very top notch aussies like jesse/edge/spidereight/pinder aren't playing, all the more so now that there are some serious pros playing (not saying anything bad about the guys who are playing, you all rock too!)
The fact that you think spidereight / pinder are somehow better than (or even close to) Azz/Filthy is kind of distressing.
But yeah, I'm pretty excited to play the Koreans. I think it's stupid as **** to tote it about as a SEA tourney and then fly in 4 progamers, but I'm still confident.
Actually I was trying not to say anyone was better than anyone!
That aside, I recall hearing last week this is going to be the first of many tournaments, and that future tournaments will have qualifiers in various states so interstate players aren't disadvantaged.

The marketing manager confirmed to me at the event that there will be two events a year, with 1 more this year ofcourse. i believe it will remain as starcraft for the first year for sure, but it may include more games in the future.
Francis, are the new razer stuff for the computers to be used?
I'm still considering whether i bring my keyboard and mouse >.<
i also talked to the marketing manager about this, he said that all the computers will be equipped with razer gear, i believe Headset, mouse and keyboard.
you are allowed to use your own gear if you prefer however.

I highly doubt this, while it would be awesome if it were true. i just dont see the business sense behind it to not expect much more coverage for the amount they are putting in.
for example
1) no stream. the last fxo event for $1500. got over 200k hits on the stream let alone the amount of advertisement and exposure it got. for $20k you should be aiming at a much higher number.
2) the date, they scheduled it on the same date as MLG, = not many views even if there was a stream. while forgivable as mlg was announced recently more thought needs to be given next time.
3) no brackets and its still only 2 days away???? wtf
4) no interviews/news etc no hype at all from what i can see.
5) they had the worst map pool and only after so many poeple said so. yes its good that they changed it, but for this amount of $$ you should be researching your market first.
6) unless ive missed it, i still have no clue what kind of format they are running, this will run very late into the night if its your standard 64 man single elim bo3 where is the organisation??????
like i said i really do wish for more events like this in the future, however from a business point of view i cant see it being worth it without all of the above being fixed.

I agree with you completely. At the very least have some commentaries. Even if it is post commentaries. Secondly, they gotta at least release the replays from the qualifiers and the match too. I had to take email my own replays. I think with better organisation it would be 1,000,000 times better!
Ppl like Kelly and Benji and other (there was another lady the commentated that i've heard, cant believe there are so many female commentators in SEA o.O) can commentate.
To err on the side of caution i might bring along my own keyboard and mouse (so use to my settings =P)
I've sent off the replays of myself v YYJ in the qualifiers to Benji, he'll probably cast them after the tournament is over (as I'm sure he's practicing hard aswell).

When I first heard about it, it was already too late to sort out casting. To cast at a LAN you need preperation, casting a LAN from home is just a waste as you miss half the fun of it, and casting at a venue is difficult due to internet and computer restrictions.
I also doubt anyone would fly Kelly to the event with myself and Unstable so close.

Totally understand. Just i would figure the sponsors given the prize pool would want max exposure.
Cost benefit ration really is my point.
I wouldnt mind getting involved or contributing more from an organisational point of view to make things like this better.
Im already onto it! Ive been talking to Nick Popov the marketing director after this week we will be in talks on how to improve the next tournament for both max exposure and gamers convenience!
