My name is Ryan the purpose of this post is to gauge the interest of the starcraft 2 community if i was to create a daily stream named 'Fat to Buff, Gold to Diamond'.
Now i assume you'll be curious as to what the title of the stream is insinuating, well, basically my intention is to stick to a specific tailored diet and weights training regime and stream starcraft 2 when i am not training with the goal of improving my game play enough to reach diamond league. I will have a webcam positioned so that viewers can see my physique and those viewers who choose to watch over time can notice the transformation. I will not be taking any steroids. My stream will not be of my workouts only starcraft 2 however i will give advice and update everyone on my diet, weights etc if anyone is interested.
So my background, i am 23 years of age, born and live in Australia. Currently i am roughly 110-115kg and 6ft tall with a heavy set build i am estimating i am between 20-30% body fat at the moment so i have a lot to lose but i intend to gain a considerable amount of muscle in that time. I will be following a powerlifters training regime which will focus on increase my weights consistently. I have had extremely good results from this type of training before and its also important to note that i am not a fat blob i am just overweight. My physical goal is to be around 10-12% body fat and between 90-100kg. As far as my weights goals are my personal best is a 250kg deadlift (551 pounds); 200kg squat (440 pounds) and a 170kg bench press (375 pounds)... these lifts are not recent and are all 1 REP MAX but i i hope to beat them all!!
Hopefully if i get enough positive response from this post i will be able to make this idea become a reality and i will be able to use it for motivation. My last exam is today but i have already passed so i don't really give a shit anyway, i will have almost 4 months off to get to diamond and transform my body from fat to buff.
If you have any further questions please respond to this post and i will answer them, depending on the overall consensus as to whether this is a good idea or not i will post my stream link. I intend to get this going on the 19th November (Australian time).
Yeah for sure I'd come in and check your progress, make sure you get your stream listed here! Good luck reaching your goals! I think the motivation and support that you'll receive will certainly help you stay on track!
Thanks man I appreciate it, how does one get their stream listed?
In the livestreams box on the right side of sc2sea homepage you can add your stream (link at the bottom of the box somewhere) but I think there's a minimum 50forum posts requirement or something.
Nah but seriously, cool shit, cant say I'd watch, but I know a few guys on this forum are pretty keen on gym/fitness n what have you, not that I would define being a power lifter as fitness, but I'm sure a coupla guys would have questions for you.
I'll ask one here, Currently my deadlift is around 150 kilos for about 5x5 reps, but my grip always gives out first, should i get straps or try to do more wrist/grip exercises first? I'm by no means a powerlifter, and have never tested my 1rm (follow bodybuilding hypertrophy split)
Yeah definately need lifting straps pretty much last 100kg... Yeah I don't intend to be a power lifter or anything. It's pretty much this theory that has worked for me. Your body is an adapable organism so you go to lift a weight that is almost to heavy (3 reps) your bodies response assuming you have correct diet and rest is to grow muscle so that the 3 reps becomes 10 reps.. Any additional muscle burns fat by increasing your resting metabolism so basically it's a vicious cycle. 3 variables (strength/food/body fat)
The only concern would be actually attracting views (f that's part of your motivator) since in recent times we've had a huge swell of self-improvement blogs (in terms of both fitness and the game) and few people have followed through with it, let alone made it interesting enough for people to read updates on their progress.
Best of luck to you though. I hope you can make it happen!

This. Don't expect to get a lot of views initially and don't get discouraged if you don't. Keep it up consistently and you will start to slowly gain an audience. Just don't get discouraged... It can take a very long time to build up a viewer count. Strive to make the content you're producing to the highest level all the time and if you want more viewers make sure you take steps to post in places where it has a high chance of getting noticed.
I like the sound of the idea in general but personally wouldn't really have the time to tune in to a live stream.
Thanks for the advice and support guys, and where should i try promote my stream? It's hard to pick up viewers just off twitch. I have posted on team liquid and received a similar response to this post. I know fitness isn't really the ideal way to attract views but it's my only way I can think of. Should I make a blog as well do you think?
Unfortunately the best way to promote your stream apart from putting it on every social media site you can think of is to just stream. People will randomly stop by and if they like it might stick around. To build up a regular viewer base you probably want to make sure you stream consistently at certain times each week. If you're in a clan or something it might be worth telling them to watch or help you out in promoting it too.
I have created a blog which will follow my progress etc i will be uploading progress photos, my diet, my training and shit about starcraft.. http://ryrymanpie.blogspot.com.au/
Decent lifts mang, nothing makes me more happy than a decent squat/press/deadlift workout then a few hours of starcraft. Ok, there are a few things...but yeah. gl with the diamond and physical transformation journey.
I've already tuned in a few times man! I love seeing people who have passion to not only improve at Starcraft, but also to improve something in their real life is well! Best of luck to you mate, i'm sure you'll get there!
