The first elimination round of the playoffs and Xeria Gaming finds itself in a bind: Unable to scrape together enough players during last weeks match to avoid a forfeit, the roster lock that let them, at least temporarily, keep their star players blocked them from being able to field their new recruits. The situation wasn't quite as dire for Wayi Spider who were able to at least field players to play their games but the score wasn't any better for it with both teams falling 1-3 to Gama Bears and Gamecom NV respectively.
Xeria has the talent to stay alive in the tournament, at full strength it's one of the scarier teams in the league but with many of it's current roster having since moved to other teams the will to continue under the Xeria banner may be waning. On top of that, Spider's strong line up, while lacking in star power, is certainly no push-over and without their best players Xeria will have a difficult time.
I'm not exactly hitting any home runs with my predictions going 0-2 in the playoffs so far, so you'll have to take it all with a grain of salt but I think Xeria Gaming can do it, but that doesn't mean I think they will do it. I hope come Tuesday, 28th August 2012 at 10pm AEST they can prove me wrong.
