For all those who loved wcs this weekend lets share the love!
Nick and the entire ACL team and all the Unknown volunteers who worked their assess of behind the scenes to make this possible
Intoccabile19 and his sick thread for helping arrange and manage the accommodation for the interstate fans!
Maynardes mcing and casting. Total boss mode activated - fitting in with the big guns like a seasoned pro. Just a year ago he was a regular joe on the forums and its his passion and love for the game that brought him here today, like many of the others in this list!
iaguz for bringing his axe
Hdpain whom werent as anticipated at the start... I thought they did a great job and spent much time researching our scene and it showed in their casting
Acl production team - top notch at every acl, now top notch and showing the entire sc2 world! I find the production as enjoyable as paid mlg streams... And its completely free with no ads! Who are the people behind this? Tell us your names please!
Dot for organizing that super cake for tasteless and all the lovely photos and everyone who donated to the cause! The community at its best, love how much cleaner our forums have become over the last few months, no more silly epeen bm and no more unnecessary drama
Dox being the link to the public and what was going on at ground zero and producing probably the best LR threads we have had
Infezas wonderful camera obsing which followed every single bit of artosis's detailed commentary. I think he picked up many fanboys on reddit, the worlds first professional observer?
The players for doing their best and producing sucg fantastic games and sportsmanship!
Share your experience and what u loved most about wcs!
The emotion from all the players especially PiG and Tgun, the amazing job done by Maynarde, InfeZa and ofc Tasteless, Artosis, HD & Painuser
Some of the best ZvZs I have ever seen in my life, (and best ZvT ever Knight vs MGlade!!!!)
My favourite moment was when PiG beat Moonglade in the AUS Winners Brackets Finals and pulled his hand off his mouse to cheer (as he was about to win) before the game was over!!!
I was shouting, chanting, cheering, crying in my room wishing like hell that I had been there. Not even football got me that emotional.
Never before have I ever watched an event that I have been so emotionally invested in, even if it was just through a computer screen. Not GSl, not MLG, not Dreamhack. For me, this event has blown all of them out of the water. Then again this may be because I love this community and scene.
@ pja full of regret now haha, but due to the awesome observing from infeza and everyone else involved i didnt miss out on everything, besides ( what i can only imagine to be EPIC!!!) the atmosphere.
I absolutely agree. It was a sick event and I enjoyed every moment of it. (Except for when PiG was knocked out. ) It was great to just meet people, catch up and to get autographs from Tastosis! :O
Also the non-stop comments about this particular player looking absolutely stunning on camera.
The players delivering a show, and really letting their emotions out in the booth and out the back. Hell, even Mafia double fist pumped!
Haha Light so photogenic! Great games again man
So much already said but just wanted to comment on the emotion part - I've never been as emotionally involved in any match as with tgun vs mafia. Both those guys are beyond heroes for that series. I am devoed we don't have a 3rd shang hai seed.
I definitely think that everyone involved deserves some special props for that. This weekend I saw heartache and elation, and it was definitely worth the trip and then some.
I can't big up the production enough inside the venue. The few issues there were were promptly fixed, and the on the fly reactions of staff to all these new situations were really great. I felt proud that this was the event we showed the world
Legionnaire's casting was really good - hopefully he can add his voice to some more games in the future?
Infeza's obsing... Well, just look at the comments on reddit. The love he's getting is more than deserved.
Intoccable gets a special mention for sorting out our accomodation outside the tournament too - no doubt I enjoyed the weekend way more since I didn't have to worry about anything like room bookings, etc - I was totally free to enjoy the matches.
Big big props to the blizzard guys!! And the Hero's of the stream team!.. Everyone knows what Dox and vanz put in, but JB, doble and blair - you guys are amazing!! Thanks to everyone that made this possible!!..
Totally agree with iVnThatGuyDoMo and iM Light: I loved watching how emotionally invested all the competitors were. This meant a lot to them, and it showed.
Shout out to APL for organising an awesome barcraft as well,(this was my vantage point) and for getting Tastosis to come visit us at the Ship Inn! It was SOOO worth going! XD
Amazing Production
Amazing Casting
Amazing Games
Amazing Atmosphere
I was watching the stream non-stop over the 3 days and loved every bit of it (Except the downtime, but the wait is worth it )
Iaguz's axe.
The production was spot on. Really well done for the entire production team! Loved the camera work, always changing angles on the player's booths, crowd shots in-between games! The fact that the cameras were always moving in-between shots so that you would get a new angle to check things out is superb.
Stream overlays and graphics were spot-on. During downtime viewers would know what's coming up next via information on stream, and the Mods in chat. A few interviews were run during downtime and I personally wasn't a fan of the music so it was muted while I waited, but again, this didn't matter.
One thing to note is that I saw a live instant replay! done on stream, :O! Which I think is a pretty tough feat to pull off!
Downtime again seemed to be the main enemy of the event but I have no idea what was going on backstage so anything could have caused it.
Iaguz's axe.
Getting every player on the main stage and in the booth was just perfect. Catered event for the players (and the staff I hope :P) would mean a perfect environment for the players. It looked like players were on the ball on exactly what was going on and what's coming up! Brackets seems to run fairly consistently so there was no delays. Except Saturday, where it finished right on Midnight, close call! (Was there a presentation for the Aus finals? Not sure if I missed it?)
Loved the rotation of casters, breaking up the usual duo and getting a taste of everything, and mixing Maynarde in with them must of been heaven! Even getting Legionnaire on for a bit!
The games were the best I think we have ever seen in SEA Tournaments, few games might even be up there as the best in the world. (Tgun and Mafia, I'm looking at you.) Knight vs Moonglade was another one to keen an eye out for once the VODs get released (If you missed it).
Iaguz's axe.
Venue looked fantastic. Booths were amazing, casting desk, decorations around the event just looked perfect. It really looked like a mini GSL studio. Maynarde's MC was perfect, hyping up the crowd and getting them cheering for the players / casters was too good. I feel bad for the guy's voice today :P
Did I mention Iaguz's axe?
There were a few glitches on the stream (Some sound issues, missed transitions, etc.) But they are overshadowed by the amazing show that was put on.
11/10 ACL. 11/10 Blizzard. 11/10 Everyone who was involved in bringing this to life, and making history for Australian E-Sports.
EDIT: Oh the cake, how could I forget. Tasteless looked so amazed and lost for words when the cake was brought out, then when Tycus spoke directly to him, I think he was just blown away. Great job to all who helped making the cake thing work out, and props to Blizzard for getting Tycus to do some voiceovers for the event!
