I've been on and off SC2 for quite sometime. I always come back because I to be able to work on my mechanics. Currently I Fluate from Gold and silver. This is the interesting part I'm silver because I lose so many games working in mechanics and then when I get so fed up I end up winning games when I go back to my old original style.

My old style is like this CC on 1, 5 tax, 6 fact, 7 port. 2, 3, 4 are for army but I normally only use 1. This I normally hit with 100ish APM AVG by the end if the game. Even with my success with this setup when I'm being attack from different positions and stuff I just choke because my hot keys don't go from base to base. All my CC"s are on one hotkey so when u double tap 1 it may take me to my third base even though I want to quickly go to my main base that just got doomed dropped.

So I did some research. I found that there are these things called camera locations. I've set them up though F5 to F12. So now I can quickly go between my bases. I've changed my CC hotkey to 0 allowing me to more easily using multiple hotkeys for my army 1,2,3. 5,6,7 are still production and even 8 for upgrades. But the fact of the matter I'm all set but now because my layout is so different sometimes I hit a wrong key or it just takes me longer to process but buttons to press. When I get it right it is fantastic. But other times when in the early game I try to use 1 to send SCV scout while 2 is supped to be building Depot and then Rax at my ramp while producing a SCV I mess up. Often times accidentally lifting off my command center or even having the scouting SCV going back into my base without knowing anything what my oppoent is doing

Should I go with my new method work in it or just continue to use my old method but performs really bad when trying to go somewhere spin the minimap where I not hotkeyed?

Also what is your hotkey layout (For fun if you want haha)?

Your hotkey setup sounds like one big cluster **** and therefore will probably take you a while to get used to, but once you do get used to it you'll probably be better for. Using screen keys as terran is pretty important from what i hear but not necessary, you can do the backspace trick to cycle though your main cc's (i think? i know u can as zerg) Just play a billion more games with the current hotkey setup if its what you feel comfortable with and like and eventually you'll get better at it.
When you're fundamentally changing the way you play you will have slightly worse results initially but then after a month or 2 you'll get much better pretty quickly.

For funzies i have my main base hatch on 1, all other hatches on 2, army on 3, spellcasters/mutas on 4, counter attack units/broods/overseers on 5, 6 on other random shit, 7 hotkeyd to workers i had to pull from drops

One thing I have found (credit to ToRPeek) with Terran is to hotkey your eng bay(s)/armory(s) with your CCs that way you can always see if they are upgrading and simply tab to them if not.

Made a RIDICULOUS difference to my efficiency with upgrades.

I use 1-3 army, 4 CC, 5 rax, 6 fact, 7 port

I have tried all production on one I am just retarded at tabing and hitting the right keys at the moment so might try again down the track.

Woah that was pretty neat advice, thanks! I always miss my upgrades. ;(

Camera location hotkeys are pretty useful in the early game for jumping between bases quickly whilst defending cheese, or putting down expo. etc As the game goes on though, double tapping the production hotkey/ army hotkey is just as effective imo.

As for your problems with this setup, it just sounds like you haven't played enough yet. I can assure you, you will get better and more efficient at it the more you play. It sounds like generic advice, but its true =)

As for my hotkey setup, I use

1-3 for army, 4 for CC, 5 rax, 6 fact, 7 port, and 0 rebound to ` for ebays just to check ups
