Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

Teiichi Niiya can see ghosts. In a school that's surrounded by gruesome tales of the occult, Teiichi finds himself a member of the Paranormal Investigations Club which is, ironically enough, headed by the loveable, amnesia-stricken spectre, Yuuko. With Teiichi at her side, as well as fellow club members, Kanoe Kirie and Okonogi Momoe, Yuuko spearheads the investigation into the mysteries surrounding her own death in a light hearted, yet grizzly at times tale of acceptance and belonging.

Cute's review: I was hooked from the get go, the first episode being particularly clever. The characters all fall pretty nicely into the standard archetypes expected of a harem anime airing in 2012. Teiichi is the shy, modest lead male, who ultimately pulls through when it's required of him. Yuuko is the traditional overly flirtaticious lead female, with a heart of gold buried somewhere beneath all the promiscuity. Kirie and Momoe are the reluctant, yet emotionally invested follower and the airhead, respectively. Despite this, the show works out, and the mystery behind how the characters connected as well as the light hearted humour in a somewhat dark setting will keep viewers coming back each week. 4/5 stars.

Sankarea

Fetishes are nothing new to anime. But Furuka, protagonist of Sankarea, has a particularly interesting one. Living girls just aren't his thing. From his long standing interest in all things zombie related, Furuka has decided that his future bride must be the type that lacks a heartbeat. After finding a way to return his dead cat from beyond the grave, Furuka uses his new found knowledge of necromancy to resurrect Sanka Rea, idol of the local girls school. His dreams are within his reach, but happily ever after never comes easily and dealing with a teenage zombie girl may not be all it's cracked up to be.
