Terran timing push

I am really wondering, as Unstable commented last night in BSG, Terran armies are way more powerful than any other races army in low, equal numbers. In high numbers it isnt a problem but in the early-game i am always dreading the terran timing push. About a minute after stim is finished a handful of marines and marauders will be on their way to my base. I lose many games to this.

My question- As protoss, what is an effective way to deal with this deadly attack. Im not asking for specific builds, but just general tips to avoid it. (yes, im that much of a noob)

I had the exact same problem. FF's really do make a difference and so do guardian shields. use the FF's to cut them in half and then use stalkers and zealots to run in and pick them off

If they are getting losts of rax units then just stay in your base for a bit and FF ramp to split there army in half. Against terran I ussualy go a 3 gate robo build, an imortal with guardian shield 2 or 3 zealots and stalkers should be able to beat a terran 3 rax if u time it right. You can use obs to c if u can take their force otherwise just sit in your base and your perfectly safe because of FF, of course u will have to move out eventually but u will learn good times with experiacne.

I find that if I ff the army in two on the ramp, the back half is still shooting up the cliff as they have vision and they still totally waste me.

If I ff the bottom of the ramp so they don't run up, I eventually I run out of FF and their force is that much bigger.

If I move out and try ff the army in two in a choke somewhere, I kill the half army, but my forces are so weak after that, when the FF run out the other half of their army finishes me off.

Perhaps its my macro, but I feel I am constantly building units out my gateways. Perhaps I have to get the robo, it just seems like an immortal is so much $ and get killed so quick with marines.

Letok, so you ff half the army on the ramp and micro away from the ramp so the bottom half can't shoot you.

3G 1Robo sounds like the ideal built. And Sentry is key. After first wave is over, expand and tech to colo if possible.

I am having the same problem too. Watching a few replay's, a common amount of units the terran has at the 6:30 to 7:00min mark is about 4 marine and 4 maurader (or a variant on about 8 - ish units).

In defence, I've seem a few different things such as gate, robo, forge to get a cannon at the top of the ramp ASAP while building stalker and immortal (and fight at the top of the ramp before moving out to expand). In other games I've seen protoss go for only 1 assimilator, 3 gates, expand and reach about 4 stalker and 2 zealot by the 6:30 to 7:00 min mark at the expo.

I would like to practice against the computer just up to the 6:30 to 7:00min mark so that i can at least get used to having enough defence by this point reasonably reliably. How many units should I be aiming for? Is 2 zealot and 4 stalker good? or should i be trying to fit in a sentry and cutting a stalker? With the robo build, should i skip the observer and go straight for the immortal and then build the observer after this first wave to scout their expo?
