Apparently I'm moving to a new place with another couple who already on contract with Telstra internet (cable service as they say). However I want another internet connection (properly from Optus) but the guy at the store said they cannot connect our apt. because Telstra already there and use the line (the one that connects with your modem) so they cannot set another modem for me. Yet Telstra guy said it doesn't matter since they use their "foxtel cable" and not interfere with any land line and I should be able to get another internet service.
I'm not a good IT guy regarding this issue. Anybody here can give me some thoughts please? Thanks in advance
Well if you actually want to play sc2, why the **** would you even think about getting optus?
Also if you just want ADSL there will not be any clash. but optus won't connect their ADSL plan to a telstra phone line and they're probably bundled, so you'll probably have to go with telstra ADSL if you really insist on getting 2 plans.

Easy champ, i'm international and haven't been familiar with any ISP in Australia yet. Neither do I have any idea if there is any affordable bundle for me in the large market of 'internet bundle'. But i'm still thankful for your answer, I'll look right into any plan offered without hesitation of interrupting the other couple's internet

What Erasmus was trying to say is that Optus has terrible routing for SC2 and should be your last choice (even worse than TPG occasionally) when choosing an ISP if you play sc2. Optus has good speeds, just shit connections. I've heard good things from iiNet might be worth checking them out.
Or stick to Telstra, Telstra can be nice when it actually works and they don't try to convince you that you need a new router.
