It's a day of mixed emotions at Team Iris. On the one hand, we welcome one of the strongest and most talented players in the country into our ranks, on the other, we say goodbye to one of our founding members.

TheGoonSquad is quite simply one of the most underrated players in the country. Despite being inactive at times due to commitments and other issues, he has continually returned to be as good as ever. Now, with his joining the Iris team, we hope we can provide the stable environment that will elevate him consistently to his full potential.

On joining Team Iris: I'm really excited to be joining Iris since I have a long history with them dating back to before WCS NZ. I hope I can become an asset to Team Iris when playing in team leagues as well as displaying exceptional results in tournaments. GLHF!

Team Iris manager Navi on GoonSquad's Arrival: TheGoonSquad has been around the scene for quite a while now and has consistently been performing around the top of the NZ Starcraft II scene, participating at WCS and numerous online tournaments. After having a chat to him in person after his move to Wellington, it made sense to bring Matty on board to further help us develop our Protoss Academy members as well as give him an avenue to a practice regime here with Iris.
I look forward to seeing what Matty can achieve with his time in Iris and hope that Iris can help develop his skills further to take on the best of the SEA scene.

It gives me great sadness, then, to announce that IrisHorizon will be leaving Iris as a playing member. Hyun has been with us since the very start, when we met him at SC2 evenings at a local internet cafe in 2011. It's there that the foundations of the team began to grow and Hyun has been an integral part of the organisation ever since. A member of the 2012 team house, his persistent trolling, epic rants and headset slamming will all be greatly missed. On behalf of everyone at Team Iris, I want to thank Hyun for his time on the team and wish him all the best for the future. For me, he will always be Iris .

On leaving Team Iris: Hi, This is Horizon. The time spent on Iris was very fun. I enjoyed trolling people. Especially Jamie when he is playing Dota 2. JAMIE GET DIVINE. I am leaving because I am actually Dwight and not a people person. I hate everyone in Iris, and I hope they all go to hell. I really love crabs.

Jokes aside, the time I spent on Iris was a valuable and irreplaceable time. I have decided to take a gap year in my university study and go to Korea for a year. There are several reasons I am going to Korea for, one of the main reason is to play Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm for about 6 months to see how far I can go. The other main reason is to apply for the inevitable army service in Korea for a position in KATUSA(Korean Augmentation To the United States Army). If I get in, I will do my military service. Otherwise, I will come back to NZ to finish my degree before going to the army.

My heart will always be with Iris, whether it be as a player or a supporter. Please continue to love and support Iris, because it is and it will be the best New Zealand Starcraft 2 team! (To be honest, it's the best team in SEA).

Team Iris manager Navi on Horizon's departure: Horizon has been with us since the beginning of Iris and although he didn’t participate in many tournaments and LANS (Mostly due to being in Korea + Non-Citizenship in New Zealand), he has been an integral part of Iris both as a team member and as a friend. Hyun was residing at the Team House in Wellington until recently and he will be leaving NZ at the end of the month. Iris wishes you all the best as you carry out your Army Service in Korea over the next couple of years.

IrisAnother on Horizon's departure: For the last year I've lived with Hyun in our team house and got to know him quite well, he's a great guy and a good SC2 player. Sitting beside him I've learned a lot about the way Terrans approach TvP and have consequently improved my PvT; we've had a lot of good discussions about SC2 in general. I wish him the best in Korea and I'm sure we will stay in touch.

Seriously, really sad to see Hyun go. Even though us academy plebs haven't been around long, I feel like I've gained some really great friends in the main team. Will miss you buddy, hope to see you go far in HOTS.

Big welcome to Matty, can't wait to see what he can get done with the Iris tag. Hope to see some sick results coming up soon for him with practice partners like Ben and Jamie.
