SC2SEA is Recruiting!
Be Involved Today!
The time is now!
With the recent calls for community involvement, I find now an appropriate time to make an official SC2SEA recruitment post, the first we have had in long time. If you would like to contribute in helping the community grow, you now have the perfect opportunity to get involved! Lets help make eSports in our region bigger and better! The basic criteria would be a history of quality posts from you on SC2SEA or at other respectable site and a sense of pride in doing community work.
Should I apply?
Although there are some nice side benefits like customised avatars, the latest Blizzard game beta keys, getting larger of viewership of your work or simply the satisfaction of helping something you believe in grow - the main reason why you should apply is because of your genuine passion for Starcraft and community work. If you have that and want to be a part in shaping our future we will love to have you on our team.
Here are the positions we need.
1. News Team
Description: I feel our news section isn't being used to its full potential, it should be more dynamic and we should be covering so much more that goes on in the eSports world. The news team will be in charge of bringing the latest global and SEA news to the community. I've always respected gosugamers as a site i visited purely for the latest news, as it always had the latest happenings updated concisely and I hope we can achieve something similar at SC2SEA. Not everyone may want to read news from around the world, so to make news reading manageable there will be simple filters applied to prefixes so for e.g you can block/show "Global News" depending on your account settings.
Basic Requirement:
You need to follow the scene closely and keep up with the latest news. Some of you already do this very naturally on your own - its exactly people like you whom we want on our team! Share the latest news with everyone else! Summarizing / writing these short news posts should take 10-15 minutes per piece. Here is an example of a short news post.
Bonus Requirements:
Basic knowledge of text/layout formatting and HTML
Ability to write concise descriptions and overviews
Actively follows the scene through various sites like TL and reddit
Ability to communicate ideas in an interesting/entertaining way
2. Writing Team
Description: The Writing team generates unique Starcraft II content that enhances the readers experience. crAzerk, Cute, Lemminks and Ridiculisk who applied in the last recruitment ages ago, have went on to become familiar SC2SEA figures who have produced a ton of enjoyable content for the community. Recaps, interviews and articles are enjoyable to read, but they do require skilled writers to produce. Showcase your writing talents to a large viewership and be a part of our writing team today!
Basic Requirement:
You only need to have 2-3 hours of free time a week, but more importantly you NEED a passion for writing so you naturally enjoy the process! Although we occasionally need help for certain interviews or features, most of the time article writers are given total freedom on their choice of topic.
Bonus Requirements:
Have a flair and love for writing
Basic knowledge of text/layout formatting and HTML
Ability to communicate ideas in an interesting/entertaining way
3. Tournament Organizers
Description: Tournaments are fun to play in, but they also require a lot of time and effort to run well. If there weren't anybody willing to run tournaments, there wouldn't be any to play in! Are you interested in organizing a tournament? Have a great idea but don't know how to start? Love to help out in one of our existing tournaments? Having a group of tournaments admins (when our regular admins can't make it or wish to rotate) helps lessen the work load for everyone and make things so much easier - ensuring that tournaments are always run well and on regular rotation for the community. We have always had a team environment culture here where the SC2SEA regular tournament admins work together towards a common goal. Be part of it today!
Basic Requirement:
Dedicating your time to ensure events are run well and properly all for the growth of the community is no easy task unless you have the self-driven passion for it. You need to have a good amount of free time available and this will also let you flex your organizational skills first hand! Students or part-timers with little work/family commitments with a mature and responsible attitude are strongly encouraged to apply.
Bonus Requirements:
Prepared to dedicate a portion of your free time regularly
Able to work under stress and multitask well
A responsible, impartial and dedicated individual who can set aside time one day a week
Applicants with little experience but have demonstrated an "on the ball" and eager to learn attitude will be considered.
4. Anything you can think off!
Description: The nature of our site has always been welcoming and open to help from the community. For e.g the site has gone through many theme layout changes based on community suggestions and many new features have being introduced based on community request. We are always improving! A few examples of community members who have helped are veteris who created the stream functionality & Replay database, paperclip who often helps with many misc web development issues and TheGentleman who has lent his skills in improving many of the site's images. All these changes were made with the overall goal of improving the reader's experience and none this would have been possible without people like them! If you have anything at all that you feel can contribute to the site that isn't listed here, do let us know. Together we can help create a better experience for everyone.
How to apply!
Please send a PM to nirvAnA with the following information:
A short introduction of yourself including your Name/Age/Location/Bnet Nick
Amount of hours you would feel comfortable dedicating each week
Relative Experience
Why should we pick you?
Contact Information (AIM, MSN, or IRC)
Please note that your application is also a representation of your commitment as a potential staff member on the site. If you submit short one word answers it wouldn't give us the impression you would do things with much effort too, but at the same time its best to be clear and concise with your application and not give overly long answers.
Only shortlisted candidates will be notified, in 3-5 days.
Ok I might be procrastinating from dealing with studylink :P

Yeap, volunteer help is always going to be appreciated. We do have a link in the "About" tab where you can apply later, but I don't think many people even know about it. So yea, you can apply in the near future
Hoping to see a lot of the community put their names forward to give back to this community . Where ever any of you guys need me, as always I will be available to lend a hand.
There's a writing project I'm working on, but I've dabbled in that before, keen to continue that if there is room (last time it felt a little like there were a lot of people involved, and I would be taking work away from someone else. Now I think there's a lot more to cover). With the addition of the "news team" (which I think ties in quite nicely with the writing team) there is definitely a wider scope to work in.
I love that you're splitting up the Writing Team and News Team. In the past in different communities I've seen 2-3 people try to cover both roles simultaneously and it just fails. I'll write up an application shortly!
I spend too much time on here anyway, might as well put my ePiK wriTinG skiLLz to use :P
