What the heck is with the recent shift of stargate play from dem protoss players????
Am i missing something? Season 6 I was gold Zerg. I was comfortably smashing the majority of dem protoss players since they were quite predictable and played like one-direction (no pun intended). Then came season 7 and I am still gold Zerg!! Why you ask? Because I probably lost 80% of ZvPs!!!!!! I don't know if it's a trend or something,,,, but they are heavily emphasizing the input of Stargate play in their games and it's driving me mad! Why can't they play like they used to!
Any other Zergs noticing a sudden increase in Stargate play from the protoss?
Just submitted this thread since its public holiday and I'm bored!
Tee hee
Unfortunetely there is still a lack of stargate play coming from my opponents in gold. I like stargates. It's like a free win cos hardly anyone knows how to use them. Assuming you are 3 hatch before gas against ffe, get 3 gas by 630-7 mins, 7 min evo and 730 lair (get the 4th kinda soonish if not at the same time). This way, even if you can't scout their tech, you will be safe from DTs and stargate. I will usually only get hydras if its double stargate, otherwise usually infestors with neural unless i see collo pit, in which case corruptors. Just make sure you cover all the dead space with ovies to spot the in coming air harass. If still having trouble post a replay.

recently i got matched against more and more plat protoss players so that might be the reason for the suden spike in stargate play... I just feel so behind when im denied my third so i resolve to wonky allins which involive nydus lol.
last night i played 6 games in a row vs toss, 3 went stargate, 2 where macro games and 1 went 7gate. I actually scouted the stargates everytime, but i lost 0-6.....
maybe just because im not used to it, or i had a bad night. But is there a way to punish the protoss? i built extra queens and some spores, but i just fell behind in my macro :/
The protoss standing army is substantially weaker if they go for fast air play, usually if you triple hatch gasless, provided you dont overreact (build an extra queen at each base and one or two spores depending on how much they commit to the air play) you can easily punish them with a roach or ling/bling follow up (it should generally be a roach follow up as they lack the immortal/colossi count to punish roaches effectively, and if they went for fast blink, their stalker count is too low, or they have no sentries). If you just sit there letting them kill your bases and dont counterattack, you are just letting them create a standing army thats capable of beating yours.

have your first overlord hovering outside their base until about 8:00 where you fly it in to see what they are doing. If they are going stargate the easiest way to defend it is to build an extra queen and 1/2 spores at each base. (2-3 if they are going really heavy air.)Once you defend that you can either safely macro on up and take a 4th or punish them with roaches/lings.
This is how I deal with stargate play. I'm not GM but this works in the league i'm at . I hope this has helped

Just to edit a bit, I send my first two overlords close to the main, and nat
then double sack them at 7min to scout their tech and gas
This thrend starter need the follows:
1)TGM
2)Coach from pro player
3)1 + 2
At gold level? To be honest I don't think it would help very much. Pig could possibly help out as it seems to be some problems with basic mechanics, but a lot of issues at that level can be solved on your own or with a practice partner.
There was a huge trend last year, when a quick voidray would be all protoss did. I play protoss, and I have realised over the past 2 weeks that I can play a heavy stargate based play, and it works very well. Most zergs will go hydras which is what you think is a very good idea, but suprisingly, Upgraded voidrays will tear through them as long as you spend spare mins on zealots.
Personnally I think against a mass voidrays, you need to get mutas. This is because you can bunch them up and their attacks bounce. Much more effective than single fire hydras which will go in 1 line at a time.
If you scout a stargate play, go for a roach bust on the fe, see how that works. If it doesnt work out, go mutas the next game, UNLESS the Protoss is going pheonix. Then get corrupters, tech quickly, and expo quickly.
