Interesting cause there was just a thread about Racism... Don't know if anyone else may see it around, but I've noticed quite an amount of racism on this server.
I guess cause Sudragon is really cheesey... and the suggestion is Singaporean players are known for their cheese (not that they always do - but they are known for it...?) much like Chinese players are known for the weird timings off 1 or 2 bases...

I'm not so sure about Singaporean players being known for their cheese. Could you name me some of them whom you've been cheesed by? Still offensive imo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sudragon is known for being exceptionally cheesey... right?
and nirvAnA.. that guy doesn't know how to make a nexus and is the most well known Singaporean player around...

- I don't think its racist.
Umm... I wouldn't really say they are known for their cheese at all. But for most people, being called "Cheesers" is not a positive compliment - it is generally viewed as negative. So by making a generalization of saying Singapores = Cheesers is pulling them Singapore into a negative aspect. Of course there may be just a slight heat-of-the-moment line from Champi, but I hope in the words that speak on behalf of a country needs to be thought wisely before said.
(I was going to post this reply if the thread was not closed)
Not sure this thread needs to exist. If someone has something to say to someone, say it to them.
Honestly the thread quality has been going downhill recently on this site and I don't know why, think about what you're trying to discuss publicly and whether or not it's thread worthy or even blog worthy. If you're trying to organize a showmatch or grudgematch with someone, sure go for thread or even use the chatbox. But if you're like "wassup with that" when you could EASILY ask the guy who said it makes more sense to me to ask the guy.
This thread is ASKING to be blown out of proportion.
I do not feel that it is a bad thing that vendetta posted this thread. It is not the first time that i have seen a comment like that being made and its clear that some of the users may not like such comments. Sweeping statements and generalizations about individuals from a specific demographic are almost always wrong and it is not about the portion of the target group that does not mind it and is not offended by it, but the people who ARE bothered by it.
The kind of comment that Champi made in this cause was utterly unnecessary and uncalled for. And the negative rep train that vendetta received upon making this post was even more mind-numbing.
To Chadman's comment - Its not about you feeling or thinking that it is racist. If people are offended ( and in this case i know quite a few who are offended / irritated by such comments), then it is something that needs to be looked at and reconsidered.
In response to scarecrows comment below - No doubt the OP was not well thought out or well written. I agree with you on that. However the other thread was locked and he was unable to leave his comment there. This is more about the content and context of champi's comment and use of the rep system than the content of this OP, which could be improved.
The rep system may not be perfect, but it can be wonderful when used for the right purposes, such as Yoon's drama with gus, and many other situations. You on the other hand have constantly used the rep system to flame individuals and to make sarcastic comments. For the sake of clarity, i will be quoting an example below.
Deth makes an apology for raging at a recent tournament. you rep him and give a positive comment. I'm guessing here that deth is both your teammate and your friend.Correct me if i am wrong.
Tgun makes a similar post, but you give the post negative rep for absolutely no reason other than your own bias aka double standards.
This is just an example of similar posts but different rep comments given just due to the persons involved. Having looked at your history of "rep posts", your use of the rep system in general has been very negative and unproductive, and totally goes against what we hoped the rep system would be used for in our small closely knit community. You will have your rights to make reputation comments temporarily removed till further notice. Seeing a negative rep train every so often is really getting old.
Vendetta and I have discussed it privately. He understands this was closed mainly because of a poor OP. If he truly feels there is an "anti-singaporean" attitude in SC2sea he is more than welcome to start another thread with a better discussion and more evidence than one neg rep.
Anyone is welcome to do this in his place, all that happened here was thread posting guidelines were breached. I wanted to close a certain other thread today because of the same guidelines being breached but because of the large discussion it created I was told to leave it open. I'll do the same and re-open this one too if asked to by head admins.
I agree the neg rep on Vendetta is most likely unnecessary, and ask people to stop neg repping Vendetta for his mistake. I closed this purely in an effort to increase the quality of thread / OP on SC2sea as it has been a problem lately.
I would like to formally apologise to everybody within this community whom i may have offended through rep comments, posts, and any offensive lines in the general chatbox during my time here.
Just recently today it was brought to my attention that a particular reputation comment i made was seen as both racist, and offensive to members of this community.
I would just like to clarify that I am NOT a racist, and that i totally regret my mistake of not thinking hard enough before making this comment, something i have been prone to do in the past.
Those who know me can tell you that I am actually a fun loving, kind, polite and accepting guy to anyone and everyone i meet, I have friends from many different countries, and I am even in a long term relationship with my foreign girlfriend who is from singapore/hong kong (dual citizenship)
However, growing up in a country town of australia, my sense of humour is also known to be blunt, crude, jaded, and explicit due to the vulgarity of my home town.
I am new to the city life, and also new to internet forums, and i have made a number of mistakes within this community where i do not differentiate clearly enough between my legitimate and serious opinions, and my jokes and jest, therefore, many things i say get misinterpreted by those who do not share in my opinion on what i do or do not think is funny.
From now on i promise to try my best to be clear about what I am joking about, and what my opinion is on a more serious topic, and to refrain from bringing my brutal sense of humour to this place, as it is obviously bringing more harm than fun, and i have realised that it is very easy to misunderstand my intentions through writing on a screen, compared to hearing my words and tone of voice.
I sincerely apologise, and I hope you all can forgive me for any offense i may have caused.
