I'm gonna be picking up a webcam later this week to add a little more presence to some of the shows I'll be speaking on, along with my regular streams. I haven't used one in like 12 years, so I imagine the tech has come a fair way since then. Please recommend specific brands/models with a simple justification to assist in my purchase! I don't have a budget, just whatever is good.
I use the Logitech C910, which is surprisingly good for its price. If you can find a VOD where I actually use it at www.twitch.tv/elimzke then you might be able to see its quality (although my streaming quality severely hinders it :|)

Once you get past the basics like quality of web cam which they are all very similar. The actual important thing about a web cam is where it fits in your set up. It could be an amazing web cam but if you cant put it in the location you need for the right angle of picture its kind of useless. My advise is work out the angle you want your web cam to be in for 90% of the time. Normally about eye level. Offset from front on your non mic side gives you the most "human" picture that doesnt feel all up in your face. Look at that location and find a reasonable web cam that will fit that area well. Trust me when I say one size does not fit all when it comes to web cam clips. The best position might actually be located on your wall depending on your set up.
Also ignore the mic (or better yet get one with out a mic.) If you dont know already if your ever using the web cams mic your doing it wrong. I have some issues sometimes if I dont have my headset plugged in my web cam will take over as primary mic which makes me sound very tinny it takes someone to complain before I normally find out about it.

Reason: added about mic.
