Heya guys
Ok well i think my weakest matchup at the moment is zerg. It seems that i just cant beat them.. I'm not sure what to do.
I play protoss, I've tried some 3 gate openings, I've tried star gate play, macro games and rushing. Nothing I seem to do works against them. I'm not sure what I should do. I know zerg can lose to protoss but im just not sure of the how bit... >.<
Roach or ling all ins seem to be my biggest problem. I tend to fall pretty hard to them in the early game...
Any help here would be nice. Some general strats or times for pushing out or even a build would be nice.
I recommend getting hallucination and using hallucinated pheonixes to scout. by seeing the type of buildings he has you can predict when army composition he's most probably going for(Muta-ling, roach-hydra). Upgrades wise, getting upgrades for weapons should be priority over armor.
Well placed sentry force fields are also important when fighting against a huge zerg ball. try to fight 1/4 of the zergs army at a time would be good.
Scouting the zergs army composition is also very important. This is because zergs use the lavae system and do not need many roachwarrens to mass roach.
Roach-ling all ins come round 7-8 mins I THINK but not really sure (i play zerg). To stop it you need either good cannon placement and good sim city (if you forge fe'd), for 3 gate expansion you need to be a lil bit cautious, send out a zealot or stalker or something, if he has a lot of lings that kills it, chances are he is going ling/roach all in, dont go down your ramp. If it gets to his base and you see a lot of drones at his nat/main (if you can get into his main) then youre good to go. But you _can_ hold it with good force fields and well positioned units at your ramp. What league are you in? a lot of the time it doesnt really matter what composition your evemy goes if you macro badly, so improving macro is always a good idea
Now then, for the rest of the game, spectrons idea of hallucinating etc works well, but also after you push out (at around 8-9 mins), whatever he defends with will be pretty obvious what unit composition he is going with, and then you need to react accordingly. Happy hunting!
If your main problem is roach ling all in off 2 bases (which has been very popular over the last few months), I recommend going 1gate SG expo or 3gate expo into SG.
It is very hard to stop that all in without a void ray, you need to have a very good SIM city and excellent forcefields. Once your void ray pops use it to kill the 1-2 overlords around your base and then send it towards the opponent through their attack path. e.g. on xelnaga, attack move the 2 xel naga towers before their bases. This is so that you can see if any units are approaching and your void ray won't be at their base when roaches come knocking on your door.
Upon spotting an all in, get 1-2 more cannons and use your void ray(s) to target down the roaches while delaying the attack with FFs and you should be fine. Don't forget to continue building probes throughout this time as the Zerg will go back to droning up upon seeing his all in countered by your void ray.
Well, If you think you've tried everything and nothing seems to be working, then you might be doing something wrong..the best thing to do is post a replay, and people will have a look at it and tell you what your doing wrong.
I feel like I'm making the same post in every thread in the bsg forums 0.o
Early roach ling aggression can be held off with a 3 gate expo, but you'll need to have some pretty good forcefields thrown down, and warp in stalkers while it the fields stall the attack. Ideally you'll need about 6-8 sentries when you expand, and the add stalkers, but of course there are a lot of variables that go into it.

There's a rule on TL that ask anybody seeking help to compulsory post a replay. I think we should implement something like that too, that will save time for the OP and people who help.
