Well, it's the 27th of July and StarCraft II has reached the anniversary of it's release. In the last 12 months we've witnessed an eSports boom like no-one could have possibly anticipated. Many people wonder if this is merely a passing trend, whilst others wonder if this global phenomenon has reached it's peak.
If this year has been any indication, I'd say we can expect amazing things over the next 1-5 years as we see more events, more money, more sponsors and more players hitting the ground running. So whilst everyone is frantically laddering their hearts out to see who will wear the Season 3 GrandMaster crowns in two weeks, please take a moment to stop, think, and appreciate this wonderful gem we have. If it weren't for StarCraft II, communities like this one would not exist.
For those of you who are new to the scene, here's what you've missed. But don't worry, eSports is here to stay.
The Blizzard Development team has also written a nice blog article to celebrate the birthday of SC2.

We were grateful for a chance to celebrate the launch with gamers all over the world, but we weren’t out of the woods yet. We watched and worried for the next few days.
