It’s been 3 weeks since GSL and GSTL started with new format.
When planning the new format, I had to go through lot of consideration and I had lot of worries whether it would work out fine, but now I am happy to see everyone enjoying new GSL.
While watching other tournaments recently, I’ve noticed many people discussing how it would be if GSL held its final outside Korea.
Lot of people have made requests about it through Twitter and the time I went to MLG Columbus, I gained faith that holding GSL final outside Korea would be meaningful.
I hope GSL to become a festival for all e-sports fans around the globe.
I don’t want an e-sports title like SC BW, which was isolated to Korea.
Korean gamers are competing with Korean gamers and despite frequent foreign tournaments, they are willing to fly over to compete. They are also very impressed and enjoying the support from foreign fans.
For these reasons I have decided to hold GSL final outside Korea and have prepared for it.
The decision was not easy to make. It is first time and therefore a great challenge for us to send staff and produce and transmit from oversea. But it is a worthy challenge for GSL and something that must be done at some point.
As many of you know Blizzcon is held every year at Ahaheim and it is a biggest event for all those who love Blizzard’s games.
Yes, final for GSL Oct. will be held in Anaheim. You will be able to enjoy both Blizzcon events and GSL final.
I give thanks to our partner, Blizzard Entertainment for providing us help to hold GSL’s first oversea final. Blizzard has given great help towards GSL.. Blizzard is GOM’s best partner and will continue to bring great news to you.
I believe many of you are ready to enjoy the event.
I’m taking all of feedbacks concerning GSL, so feel free to contact me if you have any ideas. I will do my best to fulfill them.
Also, I saw a post with discussion concerning my interview with TIG(ThisIsGame, Korean gaming media)in which I talked about “possibility of oversea GSL final”. I’ve read every single reply in the thread and TArujo made correct prediction about final at Blizzcon. As a reward, I’ll be giving him GSL Aug. Season ticket. If you let me know of your GOMTV.NET account via PM, I’ll present it to you.
Eh. Very cool it's going to be overseas as another gesture towards the foreign SC2 community, but I'm not terribly excited about them making the finals at a time when I will almost certainly not be going to watch it... :/
Will be interesting to see what their stream viewership is like if less people from SEA and Europe tune in due to the time it's likely going to be on.
(I do think it's very cool it's going overseas, I think I'm under-reacting after reading these comments about how amazingly awesome specifically it being at blizzcon is, since it seems like a fairly mediocre result of the move to me personally)

Sifn't stay up on the weekend to watch it! Going by the last few years schedules, it generally starts at like 3:00AM Saturday for us. That's not bad!
Well, this is cool, if you stay in the u.s or if your visiting there at this time, but this will mean the finals will be broadcast at something like 4-5 on sunday morning , before I could watch gsl and have lunch on saturday.
On the other hand, maybe this will break the curse of the gsl finals, and it might not be a one sided game for once
