I was thinking of running a few tournaments in the format that some of the tournaments of the NA server use. These tournaments are spread out over a week, with 1 round played each day. For example, if the tournament started on a Monday the tournament structure would be as follows
Round 64 - mon
Round 32 tue
Round 16 - wed
Round 8 - Thur
Round 4 - fri
Final on sat
There is a default time when the matches are played if there in no communication between players before hand. There is also a deadline for when the result and replays should be submitted by.
I really enjoy the tournament format and like the idea of having a match each day after work.
So I am trying to find out if there is any interest for this type of tournament here on the SEA server.
I was thinking of possibly running a Masters and GPD tournament if there is some demand out there.
In my opinion, its really annoying to have a tournament over a week or so, because of the fact that for one day you can sit down and fight out the Tournament. If its over days, it can get annoying.
Just my 2 cents, it might work out better for other people
its a nice initiative but commitment is going to be a huge problem. people rather sit down for a tournament for 4 hours over a day than dedicate an hour for an entire week. also it will be hard to stream etc.
might work better with a league system say players play each other twice a week over a month.
Oooh were you the one who initially posted on TL before someone referred you here? ^^;
As for your idea, I think it's a good one, but I can't think of any niches you'd be filling.
That was me
Hmmm.. It sounds like people are not really that keen.
I really like it because I find the format suits me. I play 1-2 hr most days but find it really hard to set aside 4 or so hours at a set time (which most tournament require). With this format you can play your match at any time that you and your opponent are available.
I understand that people may not want to make a daily commitment. A solution may be to allow 2 days for each round but that may drag it out a little to long. Or allow players to start playing once the brackets are complete.
As far as streaming or prizes goes, I had not even considered that. I was simply going to put on a tournament for people that want to play some more competitive star craft, rather that just ladder all the time.

I had not thought of this, but it sounds really good to me. Might give this a little more thought.
some people are only free on certain days/nights and are not free on others
so if you want to keep it to a tournament, keep it to maybe a weekend or a day
if you want to host a league like for expample the GSL format or Seasl format, yeah you probably can stretch it longer for more than a week maybe during the weekends of the month
just my opinion

Not sure how the whole tourny was done but i had to play my 3rd round match on a saturday night drunk at a mates house on his computer and lost horribly to mafia
i don't think people would be that keen unless there was a big prize pull to draw lots of players to the amount where it needs to be held over so many days because you'll end up with people having commitments during the week say a sports practice and you lose players every night for not expecting to get so far etc. also this would be very difficult to stream for casters imo. altho i think there could possibly be some merit in split the bracket over 2 nights so that casters could cast more games in the way of top half lower half up to say the round of 8 and then having a finals day aswell so that a player would only have to commit to 2 days of playing yet having 3 days of casting the better games and you could even have a day between each playing day for casters rest so that you could finish a tournament comfortably within a week say a Monday Wednesday and a Friday. thats my opionion anyway
