General Rules

League will be 4v4 team monobattles format
B.Net chat channel = sc2seaMonobattles
Players can register in a four player team they have formed themselves (with team name), or as single/paired/triplet competitors who will then be combined by admins with other single/paired/triplet competitors to create teams of four
Teams may have optional extra players (up to 4) as substitutes
Teams must have a captain for communication purposes (Skype details please)
For each match, at least one player on each team must be random race
Each team will be given two matches to play per week. These matches can either be played at the default time at 8pm AEDST Wednesday or at another time organised by both team captains
This tournament will begin in the week of Mar 6th in round-robin style with the top four teams on the leaderboard at the end of the season (once everyone has played everyone) qualifying for the grand finals playoffs
Each win will be awarded 25 points and each loss 10 points. Mutual walkovers will receive no points for either team

Some clarrification on the rules though please :P
So who announces first during the first round and when teams are on even points? In relation to queens, usually you are one ahead of hatch number, so I build my 3rd queen before my 3rd hatch, is that allowed?
What if I decide to build my 3rd queen before my 2nd hatch but eventually get the other hatches? (BTW I often get a creep-dedicated queen, guess we aren't allowed that?)
Are we allowed to use overlord drop tech or do we have to choose overlord as our unit? Does that also mean no overlord scouting or overlord spread throughout the map?

Will check with Suipr on that one, but I would think that getting a queen could be part of preparing to expand, so could get third queen as you're getting ready to make third hatch, but having one sitting around for a while before you get around to getting a hatch is not on ^_^

Hmm... I guess that depends if a medivac/warp prism were also counted as units. Overlord scouting should be fine... I'll get Suipr's opinion on these too ^_^

Last I heard, there was only one of those uploaded to SEA. Suipr has tried to contact the maker of them go ask permission to get more on SEA, but hasn't gotten a reply.

There are lots on NA. Maybe it would be better to play the games there? Would avoid making rules like how many queens you are allowed etc.

I know for me, and I'm sure there are others, the ping makes it impossible to play on NA. If anyone is able to get permission to get the monobattle maps on SEA, and that's what people want, then I'm sure we could go with that...

Yup there is one, but it would get fairly boring playing on the same map every time!

The teams will be seeded into the league table so one team will always be higher than the other.

As the rule states, queen number must not exceed hatch number. Sacrifice an inject to spread your creep.

No drop. Your overlords may scout.
And yes, medivacs and warp prisms count as units. medivac + ultra = good combo.

Like Asrathiel said, thanks for the questions and the input so far. We don't want hassle during the league so it's best to get clarifications and new rules out now.

Can you please clarify when you post in the topic that you are a single/paired etc. competitor also. Just to make it easier for compilation of teams later on.

I'm encouraging you to play 4v4 ladder games to practice.

My

4v4 ladder ranking is completely made up of monobattling much to the annoyance of random team mates on ladder.

wouldn't it be better for teams to alternate announcing players' units? (start with the higher ranked team i guess?)

do it during a pause at the start of the game and it doesn't give one team a massive advantage/possible abusive behaviour by 'accidentally' taking 90 seconds to announce their units

Haha this is pretty funny, since myself and a lot of the other Fusion Slug just spent a lot of last night doing internal 4v4 monobattles

It will be odd playing monobattle with unit choice, we've always just go random race, random unit in the monobattle maps on NA. I guess there is a lot of strategy in picking the right combo of units, might have to practice that.

I've never played on the monobattles maps! You could think strategically, or just say whatever first comes into your head and see what happens ^_^

The monobattle maps are really good, if you go banelings, your lings cant attack ever, so you cant accidently use them etc. Good for games with random people or people who don't really understand monobattle, as they can't break the rules.

The other thing one of monobattle maps does is disabled the queens attack, so you can build as many queens as you like and disables the healing of medivacs if you dont pick medivacs. (Some just disable them completely).

Its a shame they never bothered to put them up on SEA.

Although at least here we shouldn't have anything to worry about, just have to make sure to morph transition units instantly (that or burrow the lings / don't build DT's for archons so you cant accidently use them lol)

Cannon rushing, pf contain and spine pushing is an essential part of any good monobattle strategy.
Each match, someone must be random race, doesn't matter who. You can all go random race if you want and pick your units on the fly. That's generally the way I play.

Ok so I managed to get hold of the author of one of the team monobattle mods and he gave me permission to export the mod to SEA.

So I have done my first test just now, uploading Fossil Quarry.

I haven't got anyone else online currently, so if people could

a) Let me know if they see it on SEA
b) If it works, if you have the time

that would be awesome

Ive only done quick tests so far, so let me know if they dont work for you.

Ill have all the 8 player blizzard team maps done by the end of the week (So all 8 player maps bar Abyss i think).

I was playing on the first one a few games. Seems to be a perfect port across.

The advantage to using these maps is that you can random your unit so if they all come across, we'll use them for the league. I still want to have the higher team announce their units before the opposing team however. At least now they can announce "random" if they like

Okay everyone. As Asrathiel has said, the teams will be finalised on Tuesday March 6th so all teams and single competitors must be registered in this thread before that date; any posts after that time according to the SEA clock will not be included.

This is the order of what will happen on March 6th

Non teamed competitors will be placed into teams.
Once the teams are finalised, we will organise and release the first round matchups. They will be posted in the OP of this thread.
I think the best plan is to have matches played either on Saturday night or, like the OP says, the following last chance Wednesday night unless the team captains organise a different time with their opposing captain.
All matches MUST be completed and reported before 1am Thursday or walkovers will be awarded (either mutual or to the captain who contacts me/Asrathiel with details.)
Note for walkovers: Any team wishing to be awarded free points over a disorganised opponent must be online in "sc2seaMonobattles" chat and ready to play at 8pm Wednesday night.
After the first week, matchups will be released every Thursday for the following weeks' play.

alright hey guys and girls just to let you know round 1 game for dominion gaming will have to be done tonight one of our members are going to sydney tomorrow for the weekend. also im assuming the games hav to be done by 11:59 tueday nights if so we may be able to play after the weekend

also we may be dropping a member so one of the single sign ups can be put on our team because he will actually reply to my messages all through the week with the updates

In our final game of of Yellow and White vs Castigators. Two of Castigator players went for zerglings (and proceeded to win the game using double sling rush), which was clearly against the rules. Most on our team wanted remake very early in the game, however due to excessive amount of BM in the game, the idea of rm was poorly communicated and the game somehow continued on despite team castigator clearly in violation of the rules.

We demand a rematch, because the game wasn't supposed to be played in the first place.

In game 3, deL went random and we got lucky with him rolling lings after players from team Yellow and White failed to announce their units in any of our 3 games despite being told numerous times of the rule and their captain wTinte asking them numerous times to do so.
They agreed to play the game out after we discussed the random unit rule at the start while the game was paused and only decided they wanted a rematch after the game was over.

Bottom line, this is supposed to be a fun league. Carrying on in this fashion even before you were legitimately beaten is not the way to behave.

I have sent a PM to all players involved with my decision. In short, a rematch will not be granted.

Yellow and White believed that the Castigators were breaking the rules by having two zerglings. One of the zerglings was chosen by random, which has been explained before as being allowed, as long as the non-random zergling was chosen first.

There was BM from both teams, but not excessive. I would, however, prefer to see zero BM in the future, and I hope both of these teams, and everyone playing in the tournament, can take that on board

All teams were seeded onto the monobattles league ladder according to the various sc2 ladder rankings of their individual players.

This was done so we'd be able to begin round one with a ranked ladder and the handicap system (of the higher ranked team announcing their units first) ready for the round one games.

It kinda works out like that when your oppounants go Carrier, Void Ray, Banshee and Hellion, and you dont have any AA units (Roach, Ling, Ultra and Collousus :>)
