Arena Internet Cafe will be hosting a series of StarCraft II tournaments in the coming months, with cash prizes and Tt eSPORTS gear up for grabs.

Format

Date: May 14, 2011 - 11am opening/warmup/setting up/registration etc, Noon start time. You're more than welcome to come before hand to get some extra practice in, I'll be there from early in the morning.
Location: Arena Internet Cafe, 264-268 Rundle Street, Adelaide SA 5000 (in between Al Fresco and Piatto)
Entry fee: $15 (spectating is free of course)

The tournament will be played on the South East Asian (SEA) server.

The tournament will be a double elimination bracket, with all matches being Best of 3 and the Grand Final being Best of 5.

The map pool will be (all ladder maps): Xel'Naga Caverns, Shakuras Plateau, The Shattered Temple, Metalopolis, Tal'Darim Altar LE

Each player will remove one map from the pool, and a coin flip will determine who picks the first map. The loser of the match picks the next map.

Prizes

1st place: $100
2nd place: 1x Tt eSPORTS Shock One Headset
3rd place: 1x Tt eSPORTS Azurues Mouse and 1x Tt eSPORTS Dasher Mouse pad

We're also going to be giving away a Tt eSPORTS shirt, Tt eSPORTS headset and $50 store credit to some players that didn't place in the top three.

Registration

Registration is not neccesary, but will aid in allowing us to create fair brackets before the day of the tournament, and will let us gauge numbers more accurately to decide whether or not to commit more or less computers to the tournament, and it lets the sponsors know of potential interest.

Post in this thread with your SEA BNet name and ID number, or if you're too lazy to sign up (you should sign up!) shoot an email to marc@fnatic.com with the same information and any other questions.

You may not register online but show up on the day and you will of course still be allowed to play.

Other information

Players will be allowed to bring their own mouse, keyboard and mousepad. The computers are more than capable of running StarCraft II at it's highest settings. The monitors are very large (27"), but it may be possible to use smaller monitors if required.

There will be 20 PCs dedicated to running the tournament, so if the player number exceeds 20 (which I hope and expect), players will need to be switching computers between players from time to time. If need be we can possibly free up more PCs for tournament use.

This will be, in essence, a 'test' run - if there are lots of players and the event goes smoothly then future events will have bigger and better prize pools. At the moment the plan is to run tournaments every three to four weeks and to create season-like peroids with finals for the best finishers. In order to succeed we'll need the support of everyone in Adelaide, so help out!

GSL Code S Grand Finals viewing?

So as we all know by now, the GSL Code S finals are on the same day as this tournament - I'm going to do my best to either set up a projector or spare room to set up some GSL viewing while those games are going. Nothing is concrete yet but I'll post as soon as I get more details.

Assuming we can get a projector we're going to have a bit of upstairs cut off for just GSL watching while the rest of the tournament happens down stairs. I'm hoping someone has a premium ticket for GSL too?

Waiting on 100% confirmation. Worst comes to worst we just have GSL on one screen and the audio played through the main speakers (**** the shitty music they normally play).

A cool 8 hours with pretty much no bumps along the way, with a perfect 32 player turnout. I'm pretty happy.

I thought the tournament went very well. One thing coming from my brother was in regards to the People Standing Around problem. He says that next time there should be a Marshal type person active the whole day making sure everyone is there and playing the games on time. I know you sort of took up this role the first time but my brother thinks it could be improved.

From me: I'd like to see a stream/Casters for big matches.

Yeah, I think next time we'll change how that works. I'll get people to report results directly to me and I'll let them know if they should pack up and wait for their next game or if they should stay on their computer for their next game shortly. We did kind of wing it because we didn't know what the turnout would be and if we had enough computers etc, but I think it went OK for a first run.

Casting is a bit iffy, but we'll see.

Hey Frequency. Was a good fun day! Enjoyed getting rolled hard

The only real problem I saw was the people standing around a lot, but other then that was a great day.

Arena is a really great venue as well. Hadn't been there in years, but the PC's etc were great.

I definitely think people standing around was a bit of an issue, not heaps sure what you'd do about that if it was at Arena again. The venue was great though in terms of atmosphere, nice blokes (and one girl) and sweet beastly pc's.
