I’ve had a good and fair amount of time in order to test the product and overall I’ve been very pleased with the Tt eSports Dracco Captains.

+ [Overview] +

Overview:
- Comfort – Nice and easy to adjust the size of the headset.
- Sound Quality – Clear and pristine sound, compared with my other headset/earphones it makes a visible different.
- A feature that I really like is how easy the headset is to fold away to put in the bag it came with. Just makes life a little easier when I go from point a to point b.
- Microphone offers a nice and clear voice input, noticeable difference from my other headset.
- The tangle free connection cord is light and easily manageable.

Overall 9/10.

This segment of the review focuses on expanding upon the previous points for those who are interested in how I came to such conclusions regarding the product.

Earlier I did mention that the comfort was a nice feature of the Tt Dracco Captains, but there were some points that I noted during the trial period. Usually if ever I use my headset it is for long term use i.e. study period or sitting down for some gaming. So it is important to me that my headset will be able to comfortably be used for periods between 4-6 hours. The Dracco Captains do a fair job after 2-3 hours, but can prove a little uncomfortable from that point on.

In terms of the quality of sound I was fairly impressed by the headset. Comparatively, the Dracco captains do a better job in terms of offering a really enjoyable listening experience for music and also picking up in game sounds and effects. I don’t think I’ve had an issue with the sound within the last couple of weeks.

I was quite surprised that the headset was designed to be so manageable for players to fold up and put away the headset as easily as I find it now. It’s been something that applies heavily to me, going from place to play I like to be able to take along with me my headset without much fuss. With my old Gamecom pair, it’s a pain and there is always that fear that possibly it can be damaged within my bag. Fortunately it’s easy enough and safe enough to put away without a worry.

Now I can never have an excuse to say my headset mic isn't working . The mic on this headset offers really good sound input quality, happy to say that I was very impressed when listening over the playback of the mic.

Bit of a brief one for now, I'll post up some of the photos and edit up a few of the points that I have not had the time to include yet.

COMFORT
I have a large head so I was a bit concerned about the headsets headband, as I have found with the cheap headset I previously owned tended to irritate me a bit after some use. However Tt esports mesh lining on the inside of the head band does not have this problem and it feels like the headband isn’t there after just a few minutes of use.( Also I think they have put packaging foam or something behind this mesh which makes it a lot more forgiving than just having foam padding or just having mesh padding) . I also have large ears to go with my large head and I can happily say my ears fit comfortably inside the earphones, it’s basically the same feeling as pushing pillows into the side of your head, reduces the sound around you and a nice comfy feeling on your ears.

MIC, CORD AND SOUND
Now onto the technical stuff. Firstly the mic is a nice length, and doesn’t seem to pickup any background noises. (great for those pesky people who use blue switches) The mic feels very sturdy and doesn’t feel like it’s going to break if you push it side to side. Also the mic arm when knocked or bumped accidentally will not move from it’s current position. Which I find is great compared to some cheaper headsets which have mic arms that move up and down if you apply any force to them, it may seem like a little thing but it really helps seeming you don’t have to fix up your mic positioning every time it gets knocked. The mic makes you sound like you would if you were talking to the person in real life, which is brilliant and what all mics should strive for. (my previous mic made me sound like a young child) The sound from the headset is great, really picks up the bass in songs well I find. The cord is about 1 and a half metres, doesn’t entangle its self which is a joy(tangled mic cords make sooooo much static from previous experience and it’s just not fun for anyone) the cord is also not just a plastic thin flimsy cord, it’s nice thick and feels strong, which is probably the most important thing in a headset for me as I always end up rolling over the cord with my seat. Headband is easy to adjust to fit all sizes of heads, requires quite a bit of force to adjust the headset size which is nice so you can’t accidentally adjust it when taking the headset off.

CONTROLLER
The Mic and audio controller, this feature is quite handy for when you are in skype or another program without push to talk. The audio controller works perfectly as does the mic controller. However it does feel like Thermaltake has gone with the cheap option on the controller, which is disappointing, the volume controller is just plastic and sticks out the side and doesn’t feel nice. The actual red switch for the Mic mute switch fell off, it had just been glued to the actual switch for aesthetics. However even though the controller feels cheap it still does it’s job and that’s the important thing.

LOOK AND STYLE
A big feature for this headset is that the ear cups can rotate and flip around, which is great for people who do a lot of travelling or go to a lot of lans. Another big plus is that if you are sitting with someone and you want them to hear something you don’t have to take the headset off, you can just rotate an ear cup around and they can just put their ear up to it, without you having to remove the headset which is really handy(Also it is really find just fiddling with the ear cups rotating and flipping them around when you’re bored).
The headset is quite a stylish piece of tech, it has the old Tt esport red dragon on one ear cup, a nice matte black colour scheme with red highlights also add to the allure, so if you’re going to a lan with these you are sure to turn some nerd heads. However a big let down in the style department is that the mic is not detachable, so wearing the headset on the bus, train, etc would feel a bit awkward because you would have a mic sticking out of it. The headset came with a carry case, which is just the right size to fit the headset and feels nice and soft to touch.


CONCLUSION
In conlcusion this headset would be a great addition to any gamers set up, and I would encourage anyone who is in the market for ~$100 headset to check this headset out before making a purchase. I have enjoyed reviewing this headset and thank you Thermaltake for giving me this opportunity.

REVIEW
So out of the box, it's a standard gaming headset - nice sized ear cups, mic attached for all your multiplayer funsies etc. First thing I noticed was the build quality. Despite being pretty light for its size, it felt solid - much more so than most "gaming" headsets I've owned. Certainly more than worthy of the fairly reasonable pricetag it runs. The controller was a little gimmicky and pointless, considering those things are all controllable from your mouse, but I'm sure its a feature that would come in handy to some - and added features never really hurt anyone. The detachable cord was a super nice touch from my standpoint - I've killed several headsets over the years from running over the cord with my chair, and slowly pulling away at it until it finally kills the left speaker - no more! The major pro from this headset, however, was the comfort. It's likely the most comfortable gaming headset I've used, save perhaps the presumably ExPen$iVe A$ **** A$U$ RoG ones they use at Arena. I was able to smash out hours of ladder without feeling any discomfort around my ears/head. The microphone is great - had sounds better than both the microphones I've been using by quite a ways, which is surprising coming from a headset mic.

The downside, however is the same that most "gaming" headsets share, and that is the lack of sound quality that you might get from a set of dedicated headphones in a similar price range. No amount of tinkering with settings in my sound card could sort out the weird bass overload I was getting. If the bass was punchy this wouldn't really be an issue, but it was a very dulled, droning kind of bass that ended up giving me a decent headache after a few hours of solid music listening. I will say however, that this is from the standpoint of someone who has been using fairly high quality stuff for the last year. These are certainly above average for audio quality in terms of gaming headsets.

CONCLUSION
If you enjoy the sound quality you get from most good gaming headsets (A40s/Megalodon notwithstanding), this is a solid buy, especially for the decent price it sells for. Its super comfy, I can tell its going to last a damn long time, and will be worth well over what you would pay for in terms of durability and usage. However if, like me, you've been relatively spoiled for sound quality for a while, they probably aren't for you.

Overall a solid 7.5-8/10 would test again

COMFORT
Comfort is without a doubt one of the most important aspects of any headset. When gaming for multiple hours nothing frustrates me more and induces keyboard breaking fits than losing a game whilst having pain on your noggin from your headset. After about a week or two of wearing this headset I wasn't the biggest fan of how comfortable it was, but eventually the nerve endings in my ear died off and it became good enough to wear for multiple hours comfortably.

MIC, CORD AND SOUND
As far as sound quality goes I thought this headset was pretty good. However I know next to nothing about sound and would never call myself an audiophile, so take my advice with an artery clogging amount of salt.
The mic is amicable and the cord does it's one job well, which is not breaking. A little feature I like is having the cord detachable, in case it gets caught or snagged or something it reduces the chance of it breaking, so that was nice.

LOOK AND STYLE
The amount of unwanted attention from various gurrrrrrrrl gamers at LAN's was definitely attributable to the sexy sleek design of Dracco Captains, and they have a cool name to boot. Usually looks are the last thing I'm concerned about when purchasing a headset, but it is a nice little bonus when they do look cool.

DURABILITY
As mentioned above, the headset feels pretty light, but I still feel it's pretty sturdy. Having broken many headsets in my time I try to take my anger out on other things, but if I were to relapse into a fit of rage I'd be fairly confident the Dracco Captains would be able to withstand my wrath, and still love me the morning afterwards and internalize my abuse towards them as their own shortcomings.

CONCLUSION

Wrapping up, the most prominent question is, would I recommend you buy them?
For ~99 bucks, these are a relatively cheap, portable, comfortable, solid headset that does it's job well and will give you little trouble. If you have a big head or ears that Dumbo would be jealous of I probably wouldn't recommend it, but overall I would say give them a shot.

I won the headset at the BSG Cup a month ago, and just got it today. Woo! Thank you.

I've been using it for quite a few hours now so I'll put some words in.

PROS

- It's light on the head with good build quality.
- Cord's got a good length to it, and is detachable.
- Sound quality's good.
- Collapsible.
- Microphone's not too in-my-face and does a good job at being a mic.

CONS

- Controller feels a bit on the cheap side.
- Not the most comfortable thing to wear.

Sound and Microphone

The microphone isn't the best quality, but it does its job well (it's good for a headset mic actually) and how the mic itself isn't so close to my mouth is a good plus, it doesn't sound like I'm yelling into my microphone anymore.

The sound quality is good. I do have better sounding headphones, but I'm quite glad about how this one puts out sound. Also, there's no silly loud static that I hear when I use these unlike the old, heavy headset I used to use.

Comfort, Build Quality and other quirks

With gaming headsets, if it sounds good then that's good. However with me I'm the type that really wants to feel comfortable. My old ones were heavy, and honestly despite the really good padding it has the weight makes it really uncomfortable after an hour or two. These ones at first didn't feel that comfortable, but I've had it on for a few hours now and I never once had to take them off unless I had to get off the computer for whatever reason. I don't feel super comfy, but I don't feel uncomfortable enough to take them off.

What I really like however is that it's pretty light. I really wanted a nice, light headset and this one does that job perfectly for me. I was actually kinda toying around with it earlier to see how the build quality is; I didn't hear any creaking and it felt sturdy. +1 to that. It's got a nice look to it as well and doesn't look huge on my head. However the controller on the cord does feel pretty cheap, and I would be really careful to not put too much pressure on it by accident (i.e. stepping on it) and break it.

The cord's fantastic. The fact that I can detach it at will just means I can just detach it and store it safely when the headset isn't in use. It seems that it is a braided wire which is even better.

I tend to take my computer out to LANs now and then and the biggest pain with me is having to deal with my headset cord; honestly it's a long cord and it splits into five different cords (3 for audio, 1 mic and 1 USB) with a control box in between the headset and the five ends. Instead of taking that I can take the Dracco Captain instead without hesitation; having it collapsible and being provided with a storage bag just means it was built with portability in mind.

Conclusion

For a PC gaming headset priced at the market for 99 dollars, it definitely does the job. It's got good sound quality, the mic does its job well while the whole headset feels sturdy and light on your head. It's definitely not the most comfortable, but it felt nice enough that I don't get sick of having it on me. It's great to have a collapsible headset that you can take on the go without having to go through wiring hassles since you can detach the cord and then store the entire thing in a provided bag.

For its price range I would give it a 9/10: it's a jack of all trades but a master of none. Anyone that's an audiophile or have very good sound quality headphones probably would not enjoy it, but if you're just looking for a good headset without wanting to spend a lot I would definitely recommend this.
