Hello SEA community! I came up with the idea of making 1v1 ladders where there will be a Amateur, Intermediate, Professional and Masters ladder and also an Open ladder (for all players). So like CyberGamer except may use different names of leagues.
How it works?
Once signups are open the best 60 players that signup wanting to play in the ladders will be put into one of the ladders while the rest have a choice to play in the open ladder. Once in a ladder you will be randomly put on the ladder then being able to challenge people between 1-5 places above you (once ladder is ready and has enough players). While you challenge you will be asked to send days and times to your opponent. The times will be between 4-10pm (Starting time). So you will be picking minimum of 3 days with 3 times for each day for example player 1 is challenging player 2. Player 1 will send 3 times on 3 days (Minimum) (You can Select everyday of the coming week and times if wanted) . Player 1 selected
Monday: 4:30pm, 5pm, 5:30pm
Wednesday: 4pm, 6pm, 10pm
Saturday: 7:30pm, 8:30pm, 9pm
If player 2 accepted Monday 4:30pm they will add each other and then wait it out till its time to verse each other. If player 2 doesn't accept in 48 hours or declines it will be a forfeit to the challenger.
If one of the players isn't on at the exact time you will have to wait 10 minutes before claiming a forfeit.
If a player cant make it the players can organize a time they can both make but if they can't find a time the player who can't make the accepted time has to forfeit. You will also have to contact and admin to notify that a match time has been changed.
Other Things:
-20 players per league.
-A season goes for 2 months.(May change)
-Once the season is over the top5 players from each ladder will be promoted to the next ladder above yours (Unless in the Masters ladder).
-Once the season is over the lowest 5 in each ladder will be demoted to the lower ladder under your current one amateur bottom 5 will be fighting to get there spot back against the open ladder top11 players in a amateur qualifier ladder/Tournament.
-The open ladder will follow same rules but is open for everyone to join even after ladder has started.
Rules:
-No cheesing (Putting photoncannons, barracks, gateways ect inside opponents base)(You can put stuff like the gas thing on opponents ones to be annoying tho :P) (Can result in you opponent winning the match and also a match ban if repeated)
-You cannot challenge the same person twice in a row.
-No losing all your matches so when the seasons over u go to a lower league. (If that happens you can be permanently banned from the ladder (Till you post an apology letter to the community) if you want to be put in the open ladder you will have to ask an admin.
Disadvantages:
-Once you have made #1 on the ladder you can't challenge anyone only players can challenge you! (Once #2 you can only challenge the ranked one player)
-Some people will say this isn't an disadvantage but starting in the top 5 of the ladder is a bad thing because you won't be able to challenge many people.
-If you don't signup and your a Grandmaster player well its to bad! You will have to play through all the ladders just to get into that masters ladder where you belong!
So that's it so far if you have any suggestions or feedback on this ladder idea please reply to this thread with your suggestions or feedback.
Also if you would play on these ladders please say, otherwise the ladders won't go ahead even if you do like the idea!
If the SC2SEA staff are willing to add fees and prizes to the ladders (not the open ladder) then it will be a lot more competitive and also a lot of more fun!
Thanks for reading, I hope you liked my idea and I can't wait to hear your suggestions and feedback!

No cheesing?!?!?!?!
Gonna be impossible to enforce because of opinions on whats cheese whats not....

How are you going to know if they did it on purpose or genuinely lost?
Also the only reason they would want to go lower is because if their is a cash prize at the lower level and they want to win the money

The prizes (particulary money) will draw out the stronger players if not you probably only have casuals. And fees aren't usual a good idea as there are many FREE tournaments out there that have cash prizes, fees are usually for lans where players know that their money is going to expenses etc. unless of course it is IPL/NASL online qualifier etc.

Your style of ladder looks exactly like cybergamer so why not just play cybergamer? Some of the rules you've suggested cannot be policed however i like the fact you are trying to add some more spice to the 1v1 scene however i dont think this is the right way to do it.

Yeah well Cheesing is not a must that could easily be changed
it also is like cybergamer but cybergamer has no players on sc2 so why not get something going here?
Also it will be noticeable if a player loses all his games then full on dominates in the lower ladder and the player will be put in a league for their skill.

I agree with Light. I appreciate the effort put into the OP but any ladder system proposed has to be better than the battle.net AMM for people to take it up. We tried a manual approach with crAzerk's masters ladder tournament and response for that was very lukewarm.
The closest to an automated version was when turtles created an ELO map, making it easy for players to have a different automated ladder system based on ELO without much effort.
How about we scrap all of the ladders except for the open which anyone could join? Then the rules won't apply because cheesing just like some said its a strat that needs to be used to win (at times) and then the "losing all you games" rule won't apply either.
I can see your effort that has been put into this, but it requires a lot more refinements to become feasible. It's not that easy to make a 1v1 ladder all by yourself. Keep it up!! gl
