Today TSL's head coach, Lee Woon Jae, announced in a call to Korean Esports Website ThisIsGame that "it is time to face reality. It has become far too difficult for this team to continue going on. We have decided to disband.".
While player retention issues have plagued TSL since their inception, the final straw cited by the TSL coach was the recent loss of two high calibre players, Choi "Polt" Seong Hoon who became a free agent mid-december and Kim "Revival" Dong Hyun who joined team Evil Geniuses.
The original home of the first GSL Champion Kim "FruitDealer" Won Ki, TSL, was credited as being the first Korean Starcraft 2 team that was able to afford to pay it's players a salary. Unfortunately accusations later emerged that the coach had stopped payments without reason and Fruitdealer and Trickster soon left to join Team Startale. The team's luck didn't improve when, after winning the first season of the North American Star League, Puma was recruited by team Evil Geniuses amid controversy when it was revealed TSL never made him sign a contract. Their line up suffered further after losing Clider, Killer and JYP as well as aLive and Heart and the team seemed to be in a permanent state of restructuring despite still being able to consistently foster quality players that would then move to other teams.
In a final statement, Coach Lee said "These players all hold tremendous talent and are sincere than any other players out there. I really hope other teams out there will help so that they find new teams soon."
