Just wondering, how many people here actually like chess(both Ichess and Cchess)?

I'm not talking about being good at chess, but liking it.

I've always felt that the same type of person drawn to chess would be attracted to starcraft too.
And possibly to a lesser extent poker and blackjack.

It involves decision making on the spot, where choices made very early on can affect the whole game much later.

I used to play chess for my school, but only ever won a single game in competitions.

i liked chess alot when i did not know games existed from about 7-10 years old.

then when i started playing computer games i never looked back because its similar but gaming has so much more variety and fun in it

Hehe, exactly the same with me. Loved Chess until my brother introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons, and moved to computer games from there.
Chess has lame graphics, and the worst storyline I've ever seen. :P

Bahaha I win, i started a chess club at my primary school.

Im not great, but yea i like it. I think the similarities between chess openings and starcraft BOs can't be ignored. Chess even has counters to a certain extent and the more complex maneuvers like forking and pinning that have respective existance in SC2 with the movement of armies and positioning.

Chess is like ministarcraft.

Used to play quite some amount of CChess when I was about 6 - 10. I think no matter how you look at it, IChess is more competitive than Starcraft, but they do have many similarities..

at one stage in my life (a few years ago) i played alot of chess with my friends. its very addictive =D

havent played for a while now. both games involve strategy & thinking ahead..
but then u can liken this to pretty much any strategy game whether it be electronic or hard
even monopoly requires strategy & thinking ahead^^
