1. SC2SEA Power rank (In progress) - veteris dingobloo ETA ?????? +
Similar to what TL have. Player ELO and Clan ELO system which takes into account the date of the match played when calculating ELO etc. veteris is working on this atm and estimated time is 2 weeks+. 3 key benefits I can see are
This will help the article writing team with their "power rank" series of articles.
Provide an accurate way to seed players in major SEA tournaments - they just need to look at the ELO!
Encourage clan war participation.
Coding Features:
Would be nice if it can be combined with the player DB / rep system so it flows nicely in one cool integration so you can link the player and it takes you straight to his player profile page which displays his ELO, replays and profile.
Bbcode can be generated which auto links to said profile. For example typing DB.Glade produces a link to his profile.
Coding flexible such that should we include DoTA2 clan matches in the future we can use this system too, but it will be under the DoTA 2 ELO ladder.
Even more notes!
If it goes very well and people demand it, we may even have an ELO ladder (with some additional coding) that allows players to challenge each other in our "ELO league" and report the score/upload replay and it gets captured in the system. This would be separate to the main ELO and will just be called the SC2SEA ELO League.
2. Countdown timers for upcoming events (In progress) - paperclip ETA this weekend! - Done
Similar to TL for e.g 1hr 11mins to Masters Cup. - Done, but doesn't sort properly. Will need a bit of fiddling to fix.
Big events could be shown on the banner. - Still don't have an updated banner
3. Portal System (indefinite Need help!) - My biggest wish!
We kinda reached the population cap imo for SC2SEA and the only way we can expand is to incorporate more gaming portals and more people. I believe most gamers are open to play all games as they love gaming at heart, especially the casual ones and having a few portals will encourage cross-game population growth etc and grow the scene even more. I don't know what is the "SC2SEA" equivalent DOTA 2 of Australia or the "SC2SEA" GW2 of Australia. I don't think there is any community site like us around that generate our only tournaments/events and provide such a scene for players like this and at the same time remain a friendly and welcoming community. So I hope we can translate a similar quality to the other scenes.
veteris did a bit of it already to hide/show news depending on the usergroups selected but I think it can be expanded to full fledged portals with their own banners and theme colors. I love how gosugamer's portals work for e.g
And want something similar for SEA/ANZ region players. We can be like a mini cybergamer but we will only focus on 3-4 titles max for the next few years and we will only focus on PC games.
I believe this is half way done as I can configure the news display by simply making the portals:
SC2 ONLY
DOTA2 Only
GW2 Only
ALL
And then hiding all the modules accordingly depending on what they chose. Its tricky when they click on the showthread.php tho, that is the main obstacle stopping this as the showthread.php can only be integrated (the forum wrapper) with one specific theme at a time.
Also need a cookie to remember which portal the user chose as their home portal and a way to switch the site's banners / theme when that usergroup is selected.\
4. Minor Stuff
1. Add new blog button on Blogs Header (In the same style as the Add News on the main page)
Can't figure out where to edit that in the templates Furthest workaround I got was directly adding in html to the module title. - Done, but looks like rubbish atm. (Workaround easiest way, and little bit of CSS trickery to hide it for not logged in users)
2. Add new event button on Calender Header - Done, but looks like rubbish atm.
