After having Sunder crack up laughing at my 15 year old mousepad, I have decided to adopt a 21st century mouse surface solution
Just doing a quick browse of EB and JB there's not a huge range, but a few different ones from Steelseries and Razer.
Whatever I grab will no doubt be a significant upgrade on what I'm currently using, but does anyone have any really strong feelings on the subject? Anything to rush out and purchase or avoid like the plague?
both goliathuis and QCK are pretty good mousemats.
If you want to buy stuff in Aus I'd probably stick the the goliathuis mainly because of the stitching on the ends to avoid the tearing of the foam and the pad and there are 2 versions control and speed unkike steelseries only has a "soft" speed.
If you are willing to buy stuff online iv'e heard amazing stuff on TL about the Artisan Hein. I really want to try it out myself (but too poor blegh) http://www.artisan-jp.com/item_hien_mid_eng.html
edit: Pure Trak is another good one apparently

Razer Goliathus is a great price for an amazing product, pic between the Control or Speed editions on personal preference. I use a Razer Megasoma which is a really interesting Hybrid mouse pad with great control and mobility. Along with a sleek design and no slip under.
However - why not wait and check out the soon to be released GAMECOM.Nv mouse pads and support local eSports at the same time?..
And with anything, go to the next LAN and try a few out and make the best informed decision!!
I've got a Roccat Taito which I think is awesome. Only problem with mine is that it's too big - they were sold out of the size down from the biggest. I do recommend, fave mousepad to date
I have a razor exactmat which I don't believe is for sale any more (except maybe on eBay). My strongest suggestion is that you get a hard mouse mat cause they are amazing. Speaking for razer... I am very happy.
Edit: @NOM: I have heard of that but as I said... In my experience I've not had an issue and I've used it for 6 years worth of gaming and transport. My recommendation will was a hard surfaced mat and I believe razer has a good range.
Ty for all the feedback guys picked up a Razer Goliathus Quick from JB on the way home from work. I'd used Spookies before and thought it went alright !
It's pretty schmick and a definite step up from the piece of plastic masquerading as a mouse pad I was using previously.
Just echoing what another said, the Steelseries QCK is a really good I guess you'd call it a cloth mouse pad. It comes in a lot of sizes, different logos on it, and I've been very pleased with my purchase, had it a year so far and it's been awesome.
Also, I agree with what chadmann said; next time your at a lan just try a couple out, see which 1 fits your 'needs' and go for that.
Razer Goliathus was good (i had the huge one, control edition i think).
Currently using a Razer TL Mousepad, its sick as, but be aware that some mice dont work as well on mousepads with more than 1 colour, (messes with the sensor or something- was an issue i had with my old roccat mouse(other than that it was a perfect mouse ♥ )
