New captain's interviews will be uploaded as they are completed, so check back in the thread to see if your team captain has been interviewed!
SA Captain EdgE
Quote:
deL) You were one of the first captains picked based on your enthusiasm from the first season and standing in the SA community. How are you planning on taking to your captaincy role - hands on or just act as a messenger between your team and the admins?
EdgE) Thanks for calling me enthusiastic!
I'm planning to take a hands on role, but leave a lot of room for discussion and ideas from the team. I'm ethusiastic about this as i've played both Brood War SoO seasons and the 1 season where we caused those upsets gave me great pride. I want this current team to feel the pride, so i'll make sure the State of SA and the SASL community is represented as well as possible in the SoO.
deL) Tell me about the players you've selected on your team, and why they were chosen.
EdgE) The process was actaully discussed pretty thoroughly within the SA community. There are ofcourse players that are maybe slightly higher ranked and have shown a bit more promise in the SA community, but the 8 chosen are the best fits for an A team competition.
Aside from myself, Bard and Satu have been the high risers and have been top of GM and competed well in tournaments. Skrawl had not shown up to LANs in SA and had no online results that were of note, but he put his hand up and heard that he was a consistent top 100 GM, and a very promising up and comer. Spider is there as the sniper, though he does not practice except for short weekly bursts he does not take long to get into it and his array of cheeses make him a scary opponent, especially with no match history viewing likely available.
BiGBiRd is an amazing talent who is getting some much stronger practice in and is showing his worth. His Teknicity team mate Champi is the hard worker, who desires greatness. He has been reaching new peaks in recent weeks, and is only going to improve and will most likely be a great asset due to his practicing with many other teams pros.
Akky rounds out the list, and is the terran force of the team. He has shown some nice results in SA LAN's and will raise the terran flag proudly.
deL) How do you feel about the format of the league, and in particular how do you think the restrictions applying to NSW and QLD meaning that they can't use the same roster twice in the season will affect the league?
EdgE) I like the format, and only time will tell how it works for SC2. The restrictions are great, because the depth is still there but there won't be unbeatable lineups each week, just close to unbeatable ones haha. SA plans on using a different lineup to give all members an equal chance anyway, so we just want matches to be as evenly competitive as possible.
deL) You have nominated Bard as your co-captain, what will he bring to the team?
EdgE) Bard is a strong personality and a very capable player too. He will be very helpful to discuss ideas with for the team, including gauging the skill order of our players for a certain week and the lineups for each matchup.
deL) Finally, which teams do you see as major threats and why? Do you think individually brilliant players will determine the top team or do you feel the best teamwork and preparation will prosper?
EdgE) The major threats are of course NSW and QLD, but every team has the skill to defeat us and it's what we bring on the day. It will come down to individual brilliance more than team work I believe. Deciding lineups as a team and firing each other up are the aspects of teamwork I forsee as most important.
B-Team Captains
SA-B Captain Potthead
Quote:
deL) You're the first B-Team captain appointed for the SA team (there was no SA-B in the BW version). What made you take on this role and what do you think you will bring to the team?
Potthead) I've always enjoyed helping out where I can and told EdgE that I'd be willing to help. Bard was originally lined up as B team manager but got picked to play and wanted to focus on that so I was next.
As for what I can bring to the team, I'm enthusiastic about the game and hopefully can give the guys motivation to practice when they really can't be bothered and get us a decent finish.
deL) Who have you chosen in your team, and why? Who do you think will be your likely ACE match player/s?
Potthead) The team was basically chosen by EdgE himself, who gave me a list of players he thought would be suitable to fill the B-team. I just asked people if they would be up for playing and most said yes. Thus the team was formed and I just got everyone to add me on skype to get in a group and organise practice sessions easily. The team consists of TAKrunCh, TASmace, TABlitz, Raithen, raVen, ToRsPook, Dolo, iCeAlex and NotoriouS.The ace for the team will remain a secret! ^^ I have an idea who I'd like to use in general, and maybe a couple others can jump up to surprise.
deL) Not many of the opposing B-Teamers have set their roster yet, but who do you feel will be the biggest hurdles if SA are to claim the title?
Potthead) With the quality of players in states like NSW and QLD, and the player limit of 10, there's bound to be a lot of run off of great players falling in to the B teams which will make them pretty tough states to take out.
deL) Finally, what do you think the biggest strength for the SA team is?
Potthead) I think the biggest strength for our team is the fact we're all from the South Australia Starcraft League on facebook, so we're already friends and can work together comfortably. I think it gives us an advantage to be able to organise things smoothly through a multitude of mediums and can avoid the confusion of scheduling, which can be seen by us having our roster for both A and B team up already.

New interview! ACT team member Loach answers some questions
ACT co-captain Loach
Quote:
deL) You were originally scheduled to be the captain for the ACT B-team before it was decided there were not enough players. This forced you into the A-Team. Will you take on a captain or manager role in this team as well?
Loach) I am a little disappointed ACT was unable to get together a B-Team but I will not be taking a captain or manager role in the A-Team for the ACT, Santi (our current A-Team captain) pretty much has everything covered, but I have offered any aid to him where need be.
deL) Are you familiar will the skill level of your teammates, as the ACT scene is quiet compared to the other states in this competition?
Loach) I am familiar with the majority of my team mates, however a few of them I haven't met - they are all very good players and it seriously surprises me ACT doesn't get more online results. As far as the ACT scene being quiet, it is in comparison to the other states, however we also have a smaller population than the other states - there are still quite a few LAN tournaments held in the ACT.
deL) How do you feel about the format of the league, and in particular how do you think the restrictions applying to NSW and QLD meaning that they can't use the same roster twice in the season will affect the league?
Loach) I am definitely interested to see how the captains line up their teams early off in the league, for example: does a captain save the best possible line up for the last week so that it is guaranteed points? What kind of line ups will captains use against states that may not be so experienced as NSW or QLD. I definitely like the idea to give states other than NSW and QLD a better chance at getting points against them. It's definitely going to be a work in progress I think but overall it is gonna be one hell of a competition.
deL) Looking at almost all of the other team rosters, you seem to be one of the few unestablished players who is "up and coming" compared to the rest of them. Is this how you see yourself? How do you feel you will fare against the big guns?
Loach) I would definitely feel a lot more comfortable in the B-Team league, but I'm not upset to have to be in the A-Team. I will use this opportunity to see how well I can do and maybe pull off a few upsets, since it is BO1, who knows?! I definitely feel out of my league, players like glade, pig, etc etc (too many to name, no offense ppl), a little threatened, yeah sure. But doesn't mean I'm gonna lay down and let them crush me.. I'm going to try give it my all and fare up with the big fellas.
deL) Finally, which teams do you see as major threats and why? Do you think individually brilliant players will determine the top team or do you feel the best teamwork and preparation will prosper?
Loach) The obvious answer is NSW & QLD, but that being said... Every team has a strong line up with players that can win games, so it won't surprise me at all if neither NSW or QLD win. Individual brilliance is obviously going to play a part as well... there's no way to tell who they will send at what point in the match, since it's not an all-kill format, you can't send out snipers to take them out. Overall I think preparation and captaincy (determination of line ups) will take the wins overall.
Shoutouts: I'll start with you! None of this is possible without people like you. Santi, our ACT captain, the whole ACT team. Glade + tgun for inspiring me to play... and Kermit the frog... don't ask don't tell.
