Ok, so it seems i've placed in so now i actually have to try -.-... not sure how i feel about that... Anyway. I have a question for the zergies out there.

When do I start creeping?

I understand there are two strategies, one is to build a designated creeper queen. This isn't what i'm referring to. I'm referring to a one queen per base build (at least for the first 10 minutes or so).

Obviously 10 minutes isn't enough to save up all that extra energy from mistiming injects... so when is the best time to swap out an inject for a tumor?

If it depends on build, say for my favourite one, 14pool 15hatch. If you need a specific opponent race, go toss.



Any help would be appreciated, i've got my micro and macro decent enough now i suppose, but creep spread is something I'm just terrible at.

Firstly, get the extra queen.

Secondly if you're not going to get it you're best off swapping out an inject asap (i.e. on queen popping) because the earlier game is when you don't have the money to spend on the larvae which changes as time goes on. Also allows you to get more creep spread faster.

if i go pool first the first queen either puts a creep down and walks to natural or i inject once then put creep down and walk to natural.

against terran i usually inject with my first 25 energy on both queens then drop creep with my 2nd 25 energy on one of the queens

against protoss usually the first 25 energy with the 2nd queen

against zerg i rarely drop creep

but this all varies depending on the build and how many queens you get

Yeah you definitely want to do it in the early game if you're not planning on getting extra queens. Like Peleus said though, I always recommend getting the extra queen. Things just work out better if you do.

In TvZ extra queens are always good because in the early game you're usually defending only on queens and spines while you drone up. So that way you should have at least one you can start spreading creep with. PvZ if you go 3 hatch it's really important to get a creep tumor down to start connecting your natural to your third for defence reasons. Often you won't have 4 queens that quickly with such a build so skipping an inject is fine.
