Pinder spawns at the left and opens standard 14 gate followed by cyba core with his 80% BM handicap. pRoHuntresS spawns at the top and opens with a 15 pool and then a very late hatch at 18. HuntresS goes ling-heavy early on, allowing Pinder to pull way ahead in worker count, and not being able to use the lings due to a tight wall-off at the top of Pinder's ramp. Pinder looks to expand early, but before throwing down his Nexus he see's lings outside his natural and instead warps in 3 stalkers and pushes. HuntresS has a roach warren and is halfway to Lair, yet has no units. The 3 stalker, 2 zealot and 2 sentry push is held off purely by drones and a queen. Mass roach ensues, followed by counter-Immortals by Pinder, who is at 1/0/1 upgrades. HuntresS, without map control and no upgrades, cannot take a 3rd, and Pinder maintains the early economic lead he was gifted by HuntresS to power through the Zerg base. 1-0 to Pinder.
** - extremely safe play from Pinder, HuntresS lost this game in the early stage. Nothing majorly exciting, however. Replay useful for a Protoss player.
Map - Scrap Station
pRoHuntresS spawns at the top left, Pinder on the bottom right. HuntresS goes for a fast pool and then gas to get ling speed, while Pinder goes 3 gate. Pinder sends out an early 2 stalker poke, but zergling speed finishes before they are able to retreat to their base, putting Pinder on the defensive. Both players expand and macro up. Pinder opts for mass Stalker / Sentry while HuntresS takes a third and masses Roaches. The middle rocks are destroyed with Pinders army in the middle, with each push being held just barely by HuntresS. Pinder goes for blink Stalkers, while HuntresS gets burrow, micro battle ensues. HuntresS ends up outmacroing Pinder, and once he discovers Pinders undefended third, it's gg.
*** - Nice play from both sides, Pinder's blink micro was good, and HuntresS' style was solid.
Hi there pRoHuntresS! Introduce yourself to everyone.
Hey guys, my names Edgar, I'm a 21 year old student from Malaysia. I've been playing StarCraft since Brood War. I still play it in LAN cafes with my friends, although I never played it competitively.
Excellent, how did you get into StarCraft 2?
I was a WarCraft 3 gamer, so my style is naturally orientated around micro. I found that StarCraft 2 was smooth and solid micro wise, so I latched straight onto it. I quit WarCraft 3 relatively early because of connection issues.
How did your first ever grudge match feel?
Exciting! I felt under pressure on the first map (Lost Temple) because we spawned close to each other and I was cautious about droning up.. however, on the second map (Scrap Station) I felt like NaDa taking his jacket off ^^, I have a lot of respect for Pinder because he's a really good player, it's just a shame he didn't want to finish off the the games!
Awesome! If the opportunity presents itself, would you like to face Pinder in another grudge match?
Of course. It was quite fun having a grudge match, maybe I should taunt more people from now on? ^_^. Of course if Pinder wanted a rematch, I would have the confidence to play him anytime.
Them's fighting words! One last question, in the first game Pinder opted to have a 80% handicap. What did you think of this? Did you consider it BM?
I didn't notice it until the game ended. if I had known at the start I would have 6 pool him, or drone rush! Soft/kottbullar style :P Yeah that was very BM.
Indeed. Thankyou for your time pRoHuntresS. You are indeed an inspiration to us all with your massive e-peen!
Thanks! SEA HWAITING!
