As another huge week in eSports wraps up with yet another major international event, it looks like StarCraft in 2011 isn’t going quietly! There have been some huge matches both locally and internationally and there are still plenty of big events to come before 2012 swings around!
1) Team GosuGamers is no more
GosuGamers has shut down the pro teams for StarCraft 2 and DotA with immediate effect. Not much more was said, but it’s speculated that marginal success and limited representation were factors in the decision. Read more on GosuGamers.net
2) Quantic Gaming and Incredible Miracle partnership dissolution
The brief partnership, established October 21 (BlizzCon Saturday), was called to an end. The parting seems to be a mutual arrangement with both teams stressing it is not the result of ill-will, and wish the other great success. Read more on TeamLiquid
3) Doa leaves Korea for USA
This week, it was announced that GSL’s Code A caster Doa (a mainstay at the spot since March) will move back to the United States to cast for the IPL. He joins CatsPajamas, PainUser and HDStarCraft in a casting quartet that could be a great boost for the IPL. Read more on TeamLiquid
The semi finals took place on Monday featuring IM_MVP looking for revenge for his Providence ousting at the hands of FXOLeenock, while NSHoSeo’s Jjakji took on FXO_z.
This finals series was touted by Tastosis (and the Twittersphere) as the greatest ever, and definitely one I recommend checking out for an example of some solid play, perhaps the way this matchup should be played.
Champion: NSHoSeo_Jjakji Runner up: FXOLeenock
Jjakji took the series 4-2!! The win was the first for the scene minnows Team NSHoSeo, who were without any major sponsors. No doubt Jjakji’s victory will attract some attention.
With that, GSL wraps up for 2011, but still to come from Korea are the Code A up and down matches, and the Blizzard Cup from 12th-17th December.
