I'm trying to not only play more SC2 online, but would like to reach out to any of the local communities in Brisbane to learn and play locally. Groups of players are far more interesting than playing alone and laddering, plus adds to the motivation to continue to play. If there is an active Brisbane community that you know of, or you are a Brisbane player looking for someone to play with/against or learn with/from then post here! I'd love to hear from you.
In terms of Brisbane tournaments GGF and ACL Brisbane had just passed so I wouldn't be expecting anything soon. I'm planing on working with www.performancegaming.com.au to run another GGF style event.
Brisbane has a pretty big scene actually mate, Lansmash is coming up as is GGFLAN which are two good sc2 events.
IC (a net cafe on albert street) has also run a couple of really good sc2 tourneys, they are getting organized to host a third in the near future as well afaik.
Yeah Gold Coast also so when i get free time i try to go to Lans. Internet City as stated before are planning their IC Lan #3 for Mid july i think. Keep an eye out and that will be around. Also i will be hosting a Lan somewhere on the GC or Brisbane at the End of the Year with my youtube group Dominion Gaming. So there is that. Keep an eye out and something will show up!
Also Gold Coast there are almost as many here as in Brisbane it seems :P. Actually you guys wanna let him know about the best ways to get involved round here cause it can be a touch confusing at times (speaking from personal experience).
UQSS (University of Queensland Starcraft Society) is a good place to start (just search it on Facebook),despite the name it isn't' actually restricted to UQ students, everybody is welcome.
All the community events coming up get posted there, e.g. GSL Screenings, Lansmash stuff
Sunshine Coaster here! i've made the trip down to the last ggf lan of 2012. Didnt make it to the last one tho, which im upset about. I'll be attending the July ggf tho, looking forward to it! Id also love to get involved with a local community. i'll check out the facebook page for the Uni SC2 group too!
Thank you all for your help, providing information on the greater community of Starcraft players in my area. I have since joined up with AxiS as a new BSG member and hope to continue to improve and stay highly active in the community!
@alt24 - I was at ACL, volunteered as Computer Police for SC2, saw some top quality gameplay.
