Presenting Honor Cup #9: Live on TW/KR

A weekly online tournament open to anybody with a TW/KR account. TW Honor Cup #9 will be held on 6/16/12 at 12:00 KST. (11pm 6/15 for EST time zone, 8pm PST). Cups are always held on Saturdays's in Korea/Taiwan... Friday nights for our NA viewers.

Storyline from THCup #8:

Quantic's TheStC came out swinging, pulling off proxy barracks rushes in almost all of his early round games. Once in the Semifinals, TheStC didn't pull any punches. The Taiwanese player SpiderSwim was toppled 2-0 in a very quick series. TheStC looked downright scary going in to the finals. Lo and behold he opens with a proxy rax build. His opponant, FXOCrane, is no slouch and battled all the way in to the Ace match. Game 5 came down to the most interesting of engagements. Our Protoss player opened 1 gate expand into 3 gate robo, while our Terran player went for a very unique 1-1-1 all in build. TheStC used a raven and hellions, along with the standard marines + tanks + scvs to siege up outside of Crane's natural expansion. They engaged on 4 different occassions, each time one player taking a small advantage, pressing, and being punished. With a flurry Crane tried one more time to push, attacking from the high ground and bottom left simultaneously, but the tanks banshees and marines proved too potent a mixture for Crane's economic build. And Crane was forced to GG.

It looks like TheStC has wasted no time in proving his worth to his new team Quantic Gaming. Signing him this week was a huge pick up for them, and indubitably so. Will this inspire more Quantic players to compete in the Honor Cup? Only time will tell...

Congratulations to Honor Cup #8's winner TheStC! He won in game 5 of the finals to FXOCrane, going 3-2 in a BO5 series. TheStC takes home the cash prize and all of the glory for Quantic Gaming.
