My mate and myself have hit a dilemma.
This is an on going argument between us.
For many years he has been playing an online game called GunZ.
I have been playing Starcraft since the release.
If anyone of you have played Gunz or seen gunz been played i want ur opinion.
The Argument is that Gunz requires more skill then starcraft.
Let me know what you think and please leave an explanation why?
Completely different games require completely different skill sets. Neither is more difficult to play. Both would require great skill to be a top player.
It's a stupid argument and you should both feel ASHAMED.

This is pretty much true -- both games, at the top level, actually require a ridiculous amount of skill. When I was playing GunZ, K-Style was the only real "style" used at the top level, and last I checked, there was 3+ being used now? I haven't really kept up with it.
I feel that Starcraft has a shit-tonne more depth, though..
Gunz requires more mechanical skill when it comes to performing the advanced moves and combining them with other moves in sequence. The game itself 'evolved' past that though, it became a matter of modifying game files, underclocking your PC and all that kind of shit just to get the edge in the game.
It's utterly ridiculous to even try to compare the two though - you can't say one is better than the other, and you can't really argue that one takes more skill than the other when they're two completely different styles / genres of games. You may as well compare Madden 2012 to Call of Duty while you're at it.
EDIT: Ignore the contradiction in my two paragraphs, aha.

i hope both of you have played and have a good understanding of both games otherwise your argument is pretty much pointless and will never get anywhere
then you got the fact that they're two completely different games.
the fact that you are both trying to defend your game also means that its very unlikely that either of you will be able to convince the other. when trying to compare games, especially over a different genre its kinda hard to come to a conclusion when you're biased.
i have played both games and imo... sc2 with its overwhelming amount of stratergies, depth and knowledge needed to even be decent is the reason i think it requires more skill.

I agree with this. K-Style was the way to go. As everyone else has said here, it's hard to compare these two games because both, at high levels (I'm assuming you mean that) are insanely hard to play and require a lot of skill.
On a casual level though, I found GunZ a bit more fun.
Gunz is a free style third person shooter . D Allows you to maybe do anything with the weapons u have . But then starcraft and gunz is both different games tho . Enjoyed playing it until recently where it got all inactive . T_T
GunZ is completely horrible to play now, just a bunch of people lagging everywhere, barely any active players and if they are, they're incredibly skilled players. Both games require skill, though Starcraft requires more in its respective discipline and is seen more widely as a competitive game.
Zoom speaks truth! I remember facing some lag hackers, basically their characters were 'lagging' so much that they run on the spot and u can't shoot them, but they can shoot u
I have played GunZ since its beta and for a very long time as well. My nick was Blue_Vanilla(-Xtreme-) in international Gunz and AyuTrex(-SubWayZ-) in NAgunz, been voted for most popular player in SEA by NA and EU peeps on gunzfactor forums. If you were a veteran in GunZ then you should have at least played or heard of me. From my experience with both games, they're definitely different and should not be compared. Doing K-style is just basic, TBF, FF, HHS, etc. It's more of your "feeling" in predicting enemy's movements and reacting naturally once an enemy is around you.
If your mate still wants to compare 2 totally different genres games(TPS vs RTS), then as an old veteran of Gunz, I can say SC2 takes more skill for sure. Everything is constantly changing in SC2 while Gunz is just always the same.
