Congratulations to Phoenix.338 for winning our third and most biggest, BSG Open Tournament!
As per usual I have a quick interview with the winner, which is here;
Quote:
Congrats Phoenix on taking out sc2sea's third and largest BSG Open Tournament! What were your thoughts on the tournament, as a whole?
It was VERY exciting. Shout-out to all my opponents : Cordance, Johno, LazyBoy, noclipjohnny and Baka! You guys all played well. Sorry for cheesing you out of the tournaments! Oh it was well organized by SkyBreaker by the way. I hope it would be smaller at Ro64 so it wont end so late for the Aussie players.
The last two BSG Opens have been won by players playing from Singapore! How old are you and where are you playing from?
I'm 16, just finished collecting O level results. From Singapore! The Awesome country!
That's the third Singapore player to take out the BSG tournament, nice! Given the fact that the last two winners of our BSG Opens were promoted to Platinum shortly after the tournaments; what would your advice be to other BSG players trying to climb the ranks of SCII? Learn to handle cheese. Its one of the core things that are holding back many of the BSG players. Cant handle cheese? Try cheesing and see how your opponent handles it. You can learn a lot by cheesing yourself. You may not climb the ladder while cheesing but it will show you how people handle cheese.
I definitely agree with you regarding those points; especially learning to deal with "cheesy" strategies; eventually they'll be seen as instant wins, unless pulled off immaculately. It must be somewhat harder having played random throughout the tournament; how did you go about planning for for each match-up?
Just cheese =P. Nah, you need to have a build in mind before playing. I think Day9 said this before, go into a game with a plan. So if i play against a Zerg player, I'll be flashing through my mind during the loading screen on what's my BO for ZvZ/TvZ/PvZ. You need a game plan.
Solid points! I'd love to play Random personally, but unfortunately me and the Zerg Queens don't get along too well when it comes to macroing larvae injects! Lastly, what are you goals for your future in SCII?
Going to Diamond before Masters! Wont be much since i'm playing sc2 casually. I'll join some tourneys in the future!
Good luck with all of your SCII related goals and most importantly; GL & HF! Thanks for participating in the BSG #3 and congratulations again for being the first place winner!
Kind regards,
Sky

FAQ
Note: Read this FAQ before you ask Skybreaker any questions. Everytime we have new players asking the same basic stuff which we have already covered in the posts. Due to the BSG Open #03 being a 128-player event, Skybreaker has written up a short FAQ covering a few questions that he gets asked quite a bit throughout the tournament. Please ensure you read through them to maximize the smoothness of the tournament.
Q) Do I begin my RoX matches?
A) Yes, unless I have asked you to wait so I can bring the streamer/caster into the game, please begin your game(s) immediately.
Q) I can't find my opponent?
A) Their battle.net name and character code should be in their sc2sea.com profile, if it isn't, try finding them via the chat. If you have no success tracking them down, please wait 15minutes before messaging me informing me of the scenario and I will DQ the player.
Q) What map am I on?
A) See the "Read More" Below, its listed there.
Q) I'm ready for my RoX match! Where is my opponent?
A) If the bracket hasn't been updated, it means your opponent is still in-game on his current RoX match.
Q) Hey, my opponent DC'ed, but he's back online, what do I do?
A) If any disconnects occur within the first two minutes of game-play, the match will be replayed. However if the disconnect occurs after two minutes of game-time, then it is up to the discretion of the player who did not disconnect to decide whether the match will be either: A) replayed, or B) forfeited.
To ensure the tournament is run smoothly and efficiently for everyone; once the tournament has started, please only contact me in-game to inform me of results, disputes and no-shows. Any other questions will be answered with a link to this thread; as all other information has been outlined in here.

· Results of each game must be sent to me in-game at SkyBreaker.895 so I can update the brackets.

Ro128: Blistering Sands. Ro64: Steppes of War. Ro32: Jungle Basin. Ro16: Lost Temple. Ro8: Metalopolis. Semi-Finals: Delta Quadrant. Finals: Xel'Naga Caverns.
Brackets
Brackets are automatically generated when I begin the tournament and will be posted directly to this thread so you will see who your opponent is, with ease, throughout the tournament. When the brackets are created, it is your sole responsibility to find your opponent, their character code and add them in-game and begin your matches.
Prizes
The current prize will be all the fame and glory that is associated with winning a SCII tournament, as well as a short interview with the winner on the site (www.sc2sea.com). Due to the nature of this tournament, we at sc2sea.com have decided it is in the best interest for all players involved if the prizes focused less on money and items and more so on helping them become a better gamer!
After some discussion between Nirvana and myself, we've decided that the winner's prize for the BSG Open #02 will to have three replays of their choice watched and analyzed by a SCII SEA pro! So if you're having trouble in a certain match-up, even a certain map or possibly against a certain unit composition - participate in this tournament for a chance to have those problems that are holding you back outlined for you to improve on!
Live streaming and commentary will be held on Unstable TV hosted by Unstable, make sure to tune-in and use his wealth of SCII wisdom to your advantage!
