how do you win TvZ, i get to a point where I am overwhelmed, by hellion run-bys get denied by every zerg having a spine crawler in their minerals, and even when I expo a number of times, they still seem to have more. how do you do it?
Practice the marine/tank push level with stim/shields and speed on (creep optional). Practice splitting marines and focusing banes with tanks. Do this about a thousand times. Notice that once you can actually control your units properly in TvZ you are about twelve times stronger at it.
Pretty much what iaguz said, if you can split your marines and micro well you'll feel a lot stronger in the matchup, tvz is all about who is more cost efficient at trading mineral units for gas units.
Also, dont underestimate the power of upgrades and marines with a few medivacs hovering above them, it gets REALLY hard to kill them if all the banelings are dead and the muta ball isnt big enough to keep the medivac count low.
Other than that just push at the right times, dont forget to macro and you should be ok eventually
And one more thing. If you Zergs find marines to be oh so OP and everything, why not just Neural Parasite them and use them against your opponent? I mean, they're so overpowered right? A little of your Infestors's energy doesn't matter if you get to use Marines.
All jokes aside, Terran is all about being aggresive and harrassing. Zerg is really harass prone, so you should drop against Zerg a lot more often than the other 2 races. 1 Medivac is all you need for harassment and you should NOT send any more than 1 medivac at a time on the same place if all you want to do is harass. IMO you are harassing effectively if you get to your opponent's base, kill plenty of workers/a vital tech structure/Queens/Hatches and Overlords AND manage to get away if things get too bad so that you still have those marines to use either for harassing again or so that you can add them back to your main army. That said, if you get to focus your marines on a hatchery until it has really little HP left, but the Zerg's army is coming to where your dropped marines are at, go ahead and kill the hatch first if you can, then leave and hide your marines somewhere else.
One more thing. Never ever ever EVER give Zerg map control. Scan and kill creep tumors by sending out a few marines (3-5 are enough) when you are about to move out.
In my opinion terran isn't really about harass and aggression until you are very high level. With good macro and steady tank pushes you should be able to win most games. You don't need to be incredibly fast but you do need to be organised and methodical.
@Iaguz What would you say is a good level to get to on the Micro Trainer? Rossi said something like 12/13 is good with no creep and speed/stim enabled.
Never get caught out of position with your tanks unsieged (esp. with your big pushes). It's like getting caught with your legs spread open and pants down and your ex girlfriend standing behind you ready to kick you in the crotch. For both scenarios, it's pretty much GG since it's almost impossible to recover from that.

I dunno what level is good to get to on the marine/tank split challenge. Just keep playing it until you feel like a baller. Then lose to burrowed banes or smth and rage (works for me!)
Good. Now do that on actual Zerg players. Note the pathetic ease with which you destroy their puny armies.
