How Do I Sign Up?
By Clicking the sign-up button above! It's that easy. If you can't see it you need to login or register an account on SCOceania.com here.
Competing
After the signup phase is complete, the brackets will be announced. This usually happens at 12pm on the first day of play, but may differ week to week. Players will need to make contact with their opponent, and set up a game as soon as possible. Once the game is complete, the winning player submits the result and replay via the Result Submission Form available on the tournament page. Players must contact the designated tournament admin if any disputes arise.
Spectating, Live Casts and Replays
Spectators may be invited to join a match only if both players agree to it. Quarter-Final matches onwards, or any round thereafter, may be cast live via a live stream for all to watch.
A comprehensive replay pack of all quarter final matches onwards will be released.
Rules
As there is a cash prize up for grabs, the usual rules for competing in these kinds of tournaments applies. Please use your common sense as the admins on duty will not put up with anything they see as cheating, foul play or poor sportsmanship. Penalties range from disqualification from the competition, through a complete tournament ban, up to a complete tournament and website ban as well as releasing of the details of your offences to other significant gaming communities at the complete discretion of the site and tournament admins.
Gameplay
No software is to be used that is deemed to give you an unfair advantage.
No screen cheating/ghosting.
No cheating or unfair play at any time (excessive conversation, on vent with friends, etc.).
Lag will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis, and if an offending individual is identified they may be forfeited or given a chance to fix the problem pending the administrator's decision.
Walkovers will be given to players whose opponent takes leave for 15 minutes or longer without explanation.
If a problem (lag, wrong map, wrong race pick, disconnect, etc.) occurs within the first 3 minutes of a game the game will be restarted. If these problems are encountered after this allocated time an admin must judge that the outcome of the game was decided 95% or more in favour of one player to give a walkover. Any other case will result in a rematch of the game and a strike against the offending party (three many strikes and you will be disqualified). A good way for diamond or platinum players to imagine the 95% rule is that if at the point of disconnection you got up and someone from silver or bronze rank started playing in your place, they would win. Races
Racepicking and Random are both allowed.
In the case where a loser picks the subsequent maps, you must nominate your race before theay pick the map. You cannot change your race depending on the map they pick or if you do they have a right to repick the map. Accounts
Your battle.net account must be your own, and legitimate. There is to be no smurfing whatsoever.
Shared accounts are not forbidden, and it is against the rules to log in using another player's account.
You must be "native" to the SEA server by nationality or residency. This means that you cannot play if you are not either an Oceania or Southeast Asian citizen or if you don't live in one of these regions. Miscellanous
Without a sufficient reason, a player may unpause a game at any time. This only applies to the player who did not pause. The player who initiated the pause must await his or her opponent's confirmation to unpause.
If an admin is observing/spectating the game you cannot unpause until you recieve confirmation from the admin.
You may deny observers at any time, though they are allowed if both players agree.
You cannot deny an admin his or her observing rights.
Players are not to "bad manner" (BM) their opponent excessively or with foul or offensive language at any time. Some competitive chat or sledging is allowed (an sometimes encouraged) but tread carefully as anything deemed to be over the line by an admin may result in action taken. Take a screenshot of any situations and submit it to an admin with as many details as possible for our consideration.
Contact can be made via Battle.net or IRC only unless you previously know your opponent (e.g. on MSN). There will be a designated chat room to meet up for the games until Blizzard implements in-game lobbies.
Because of the potentially odd number of players, players may be awarded a BYE either at random or from seeding. Replays
A match may not be counted without a replay, so save all of your replays and submit them to the website.
If you have trouble uploading your replay, contact an admin and send it to a designated email.
