I don't gg in ladder games unless they were good. I think the "glhf" and "gg" are just too commonly used now, and when people say it don't really mean anything. especially in ladder. In games which aren't ladder I'll do it, and if you message me after the game or say gg I will replay, but I'm generally very silent in ladder games.
I only gg if the person I'm playing is someone I'm friends with (or someone I respect although he doesn't know me) or he said gl hf at the start of the game.
Sometimes I don't gg to friends if I'm on like 1392380 losing streak lol
1-If my opponent says glhf i will say it back, otherwise i'm silent
2-If i lose because he's better than me, i MIGHT gg
3-If i lose to an all-in, i bm, then leave ^_^

I always gg,it's just kinda automatic, I'm used to doing it even when I get cheesed. (when I started playing sc2, I was in copper in beta, and every game was cheese, I didnt even know what was cheese back then ,so it seemed like the normal way to play the game )
A strategy is good when it gets you a win, and if you get cheesed your the one to blame for not spotting it, it also makes the losses easier to deal with..as opposed to thinking "omg! this noob he cheesed araargh!"
I dont do the offensive gg, I build proxy nexi instead Makes the other guy feel dumb and gets him out faster instead of an offensive gg which might cause a guy to stay longer if he's the annoying type.

I gg majority of the time. I don't gg 4gates, roach rushes and other crap but when it's just a straight up game that they have beaten me fairly then I will gg. I don't BM cheese I just leave without a gg unless they talk crap to me.
I always gg. In some sense it is meaningless, but to me I take it to simply mean "I concede" and represent the handshake at the end of a real-life game.
Once I lost to in-base proxy gateways because I didn't scout properly. I still gg'd and the guy apologised for cheesing after the game and thanked me for being mannered. So I see no reason not to gg even if I do lose to something stupid.
Some people call gg'ing pointless or empty - plenty of etiquette is pointless and empty.
We do it anyway, because spending a minimal amount of time and effort to be polite is a decent thing to do.
+1!
It doesnt really matter if it was a "good game" or not. imo its basic courtesy saying "ok the game is over, well played, good bye!" all in two letters. Basic etiquette like in Australia you say "how are you" or "hows it going" every time you meet someone. Did you know in Singapore especially for the non-professional (students, part time jobs etc) population if you say that people look at you weird or don't know how to answer? Its just not being said much in our culture, people just say "Hi" and thats that lol!
Always in custom and practice games, but ladder is a wild and dangerous place that I only dare GG to friends and if I feel it is appropriate from my POV not every run of the mill cannon rush affair.
If my opponent BMs, I don't gg but spend my dying moments being a turd and BMing him like a bigger turd.
Otherwise, I gg to everything even cheeses because I love em. Seriously.... As a random player, I get to execute their cheese on some unsuspecting victim in the future. In team games when I'm with a noob friend, I might not gg as often because I dick around a lot. HAHA!
I used to never gg and try not to talk at all during games but then I realised what a turd waffle I was and to show good sportsmanship I always glhf and gg in the end, wether the person 6 gated me, 2 rax/scv all in or wether it was an awesome 45 minute macro game.
I was developing anger issues towards certain players of this fine game and a friend told me to just shuddap and gg after every win/loss, even if it was four minutes long ;3
i remember once i didnt gg in a game, i dont know why, i think they cheesed me or something. then after the game the guy whispered me saying, 'rage quit? lolololol' but then i just typed random bs to try to sound non-english and he full was apologising. i lold.
